I guess with his size, there aren’t many places to hide back here.

“I wonder where everyone could be?” I hum aloud, pretending to look around as I make my way over to the tree. “So many good hiding places. I betno onepicked the tree.” I step to the side and see Sloane frowning. “Found you.” I grin.

“No fair,” he mutters. “This tree is too small.”

“Or maybe you’re too big?” I giggle.

“You calling me fat, Omega?” He cocks a brow.

I look him up and down. “Nothing fat about you.” I wink. “Now, who’s next?”

After I’m done finding all the kids, we play another round. This time, I’m the last to be found.

“Kitten? Where are you?” Sloane calls out.

“There’s a kitten?” one of the little girls asks.

“I wanna see!” a little boy whines.

“No. I call her Kitten,” Sloane answers back.

“But her name is Lexi,” The oldest boy argues.

“It’s a nickname,” Sloane explains.

“My mom has a nickname for my dad,” the little girl says. “She calls himasshole.”

I’m unable to keep my laughter in. It bubbles up, and I slap my hand over my mouth.

“Is it just me, or is that pool laughing?” Sloane asks. A second later, Sloane lifts up the kiddie pool I’ve been hiding under.

“Finally,” I laugh, uncurling my body. “I thought I was going to fall asleep here. You, my sir, are bad at hide and seek."

“Rude.” He glares at me playfully, offering me a hand and pulling me to my feet.

Not long after, the kids manage to tire themselves out a bit. We take them inside and put a movie on.

Bitsy lets me know that her daughter is on the way and will be picking the kids up, and she insists I head on home. I offer to stay longer, but she says we’ve done enough and thanks us.

Sloane tells the kids to be good for their GG before we leave.

“That was not how I thought I’d be spending my day,” I laugh. “It’s normally Silva who hangs out with kids.”

“Not a fan of kids?” Sloane asks. “Because you were great.”

“It’s not that. I’m just not a super social person. I keep to myself a lot. I’m known around town, but no oneknowsme, if that makes sense. I’m close with the girls and maybe a handful of people around town. That's it.”

“Now Aiden and I are added to that list.” He takes my hand in his.

“You are.” I smile at him.

I’m not sure why, or how, but today had me thinking. A lot.

I want Sloane and Aiden. The idea of them leaving town makes me upset.

They’re mine and Emmett’s, part of our future. It’s time we start allowing ourselves to accept it. It might have only been a week at this point, but I’ve been told that Alphas and Omegas tend to live on more of a fast track. Especially if it involves scent matches.

Spotting a bench outside the flower shop, I pull him over to it. I climb onto the bench to stand taller.
