I nod. “My dad passed away, but before that, the only real memories I had of him were when we went camping, or fishing, or hunting. It’s where my love for it started. That absolute saint of a woman did the most incredible thing for me and had a small cabin built for me for my twenty-first birthday.”

“Fuck.” Sloane is quiet for a moment. “She really is amazing, isn’t she?”

“You haven’t even seen the half of it. She might not be the most outgoing person, but she will give you the shirt off her back. We’re both messed up, Sloane. We have our own baggageand trauma. But that never stopped Lexi from being an amazing human. She helped build this place.”

Sloane looks around and seems to actually take it in. “It’s impressive.”

“It really is.”

We get to the club, hop into my truck, and drive to my place.

It’s nothing fancy and worked perfectly for me. It’s the first and only place I've lived since coming to Widows Peak, and it will always hold good memories representing my fresh start.

I tell Sloane to leave the mattress for now and worry about loading up the smaller things first. It’s the only big thing I’m taking with me because I really like my mattress. The frame doesn’t matter.

While he packs up the food from the fridge, I grab some odds and ends around the living room and throw them into a box. Then I do the same with the kitchen. Once that’s done, I move to the bedroom and start working on my clothes, throwing them in suitcases. No need to waste time packing everything nicely when I’ll just put it all in Lexi’s spare room. Well, I guess my room now. She always joked about making it into a space for me since I’m over so much.

“Need any help in here?” Sloane asks when he comes back in from bringing the packed boxes to the truck.

“Nah. But there are a few things in the bathroom if you don’t mind grabbing them.” I point to some empty boxes I grabbed from the spare room. “You can just throw it in one of those.”

“You got it, Sugar Tits.” He winks before swaggering past me.

I have a stupid grin on my face as I continue to pack. Once my clothes are shoved into the bags, I start working on my bedside drawer and pause. Shit. I look over my shoulder to check for Sloane.

When I can see him moving around in the bathroom, I start to shove all the contents into a box.

Am I even going to need all of this now that I have Alphas? It would be a shame to throw them all out. Sex toys aren't cheap.

Frowning when I find the drawer empty, I wonder where my big, sparkly, clear dildo went. It should be here. It’s the only place I keep my sex toys.

Checking the box, I huff when I don’t find it.

“Where is it?” I mutter to myself. My eyes widen in horror. “Oh fuck.” I’m scrambling off the bed and rushing towards the bathroom, but it’s already too late.

Sloane is on the floor, packing what's under my bathroom sink, when I see him holding it in his hand.

I die of mortification right there and then.

My stomach drops out of my ass as my heart threatens to explode.

“Huh.” A big-ass grin slips onto his lips, his eyes flicking up to me. “I’m impressed. Although I’m not sure I can compete with this. I’m big, don’t get me wrong, but not this big.” He holds it up. “What’s its name? Edward Cullen because it’s white and sparkly?"

He’s trying to suppress his laughter.

I give him my best death glare, embarrassment scorching my cheeks as I snatch it out of his hand. “Give me that,” I growl before turning around and storming back into the room.

With shaking hands, I shove it into the box with the other toys.

“Hey.” Sloane follows after me. “I’m sorry.” His hand rests on my shoulder, and I pause. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”

My shoulders relax. “It’s fine.”

“No, it’s not, but you also don’t have anything to be embarrassed about. Sex toys are a pretty common thing for adults to have. And most Omegas have a nice little stash of them hidden away somewhere.”

I don’t say anything as I fold the flaps of the box to secure it shut.

“Emmett, I really am sorry.”
