“Look…I know you’re still upset about my sister, but you don’t have to sleep with so many girls because of it,” Rheagan said, her haughty demeanor disappearing as she looked at him with soft eyes. “You shouldn’t be like this when Raelyn probably isn’t even thinking about you. When my sister cuts someone off, they’re practically dead to her. So, if you’re doing this because—”

“Don’t bring Raelyn up in front of me,” Nikos said sharply, looking at her with dark blue eyes. He did not want to hear another word about Raelyn again, especially from Rheagan. “I’m serious.”

The room was quiet as they both stared at each other, and as each second passed, Rheagan’s face morphed from shock to anger. But Nikos didn’t have time to deal with this. In a matter of seconds, she had managed to sour his mood. Now, he would just rather be bored again, sticking his nose in paperwork, than deal with this.

“If you aren’t here for work, then you can leave,” he said dismissively, hoping this conversation would end.

“I want to work behind the stage,” Rheagan announced. Nikos lifted a brow, wondering why she would want to do that. It wasn’t easy to do at all. Even after taking certain measures to protect the girls after the incident with Honey, he still wouldn’t recommend anyone to work back there, especially her. But if it were what she wanted, he could do nothing about it.

“Okay,” he said.

Instead of looking happy from getting the go-ahead, Rheagan’s eyes watered.

“You don’t care about me at all,” Rheagan said. “You shouldn’t like the idea of me working back there. You should be possessive of me.”

“You don’t care about yourself if you’re using this as a ploy to test me,” Nikos argued. He wasn’t her dad or her lover. He didn’t have the right to stop her, so he wouldn’t.

“You wouldn’t let Honey work back there,” Rheagan argued.

“Honey doesn’t want to work back there anymore,” Nikos corrected. “I never stopped her. She made the choice on her own.”

From his words, Rheagan eyed him as if she were searching for the truth in his eyes before a small smile appeared on her face. Nikos shook his head in disbelief. He just didn’t get her. He didn’t understand why she was so insistent on him liking Honey, anyway. He enjoyed Honey’s company and thought she was attractive. Very attractive. Tonight wasn’t the first night that fantasies of her in certain attire had crossed his mind. And to be honest, if the opportunity ever presented itself, he didn’t think his uncle’s warnings would matter to him at all, and like a starved man, he would lick every drop of Honey to see if she were as sweet as her name was. But that was just it.

He wasn’t looking for anything serious with anyone after Raelyn, and he wasn’t sure if he could trust anyone enough again to have a serious relationship like that. He wasn’t having his late-night escapades as some cry out for help in the way Rheagan thought. He just wanted to have a good time with a beautiful woman like every man in the world wanted to do.

“That’s good then,” Rheagan said.

“We have nothing together,” Nikos said, wanting to remind Rheagan of this fact since she seemed to forget often.

“If you say so,” Rheagan said, shrugging. She seemed to be more satisfied with his response about Honey that his rejection didn’t matter.

“Bye, Nikos,” Rheagan said, blowing him a kiss before taking her leave, and Nikos sighed, shoving his fingers through his hair, and only one thought crossed his mind— he regretted fucking Rheagan. It wasn’t just because of the guilt he felt for ruining the relationship between two sisters, but because he felt like he had picked up something he couldn’t get rid of now, like a piece of tape you thought you had removed but was somehow still stuck to you.

He wondered if he could ever escape Rheagan.

SWEAT SLID DOWN NIKOS’S NECK AS HE JOGGED ON THE TREADMILL INSIDE HIS APARTMENT’S GYM. This was the only bit of free time he had in a while in his busy schedule, and when he first moved here, this gym had practically been his second home, but now, he was lucky to even find time to get a quick work out in during the week to do so.

He kept up with the treadmill’s speed, keeping his breathing regular and his core tight, and when he glanced to his right, he noticed the woman on the treadmill next to him, looking at him coyly as she jogged at a slower pace. She was a blonde with big breasts and toned arms. He winked at her, and she blinked with surprise, clearly not expecting that, even though she had beenstaring at him first. She blushed, giving him a small smile. Nikos smirked, getting ready to flirt, when he heard his phone ring.

He could ignore it and talk to her to see if she wanted to head up to his place for some fun, but then, he thought better of it. Hooking up with someone you lived in the same building with was always a no-go. Nikos picked up his phone, wondering if it were Christos calling him with updates about their situation with their war against Ricardo, when he saw that it was his brother calling him instead.

“Yassou,” Nikos greeted cheerfully as he slowed the treadmill to a stop before hopping off. It had been a while since he had spoken to his brother, and now that he was, Nikos realized how much he missed his family and home.

“Are you calling for updates?” Nikos asked, knowing his oldest brother wouldn’t call him without a reason because he was not one for idle chat.

“No,” Aris said. “I’m calling to ask you to visit someone for me.”

“Who?” Nikos asked as he patted a towel against his face and neck to wipe off the sweat.

“Ava.”

Nikos paused.

The name sounded so familiar, and yet, he couldn’t put a face to it.Ava? And it was then that it dawned on him who that person was. Of course, he couldn’t put a face to her name because he had never met her before, but he knew who she was. She was his father’s mistress.
