Now, the two freed men both locked gazes.
Myron grabbed Shubert by his shoulders and shoved him up against the X then Julius slid the cuffs around his wrists with two clicks.
“Hey, what the hell is this?”Shubert shouted as he tried to get himself free.“I’ll kill you.You two fuckers are done!”
Myron shook his head.“I don’t think so, buddy.Leon Vinciniti isn’t some weakass mob head.He never deserved what you assholes had in mind for him.I just hope he survives what’s going on outside.”
“Mr.Double G will kill you!”Shubert shouted.“He’ll just come in here and shoot you in the head and not think about it.”
Myron glared at him and said, “That was his plan all along, wasn’t it?We were never going to get out of here alive anyway.”
Suddenly quiet, Shubert didn’t say a word.
Myron could read the truth in his eyes.Then he reached for the gun at Shubert’s waistband.“Now we’ll see who gets shot in the head when this is over.”Then he struck him in the head.
Shubert flopped against the wooden X.
Julius looked at Myron and asked, “Now what?We can’t stay here.Leon will shoot us.”
Myron shook his head.“Not if we just stay here and wait for him to come back.We got nothing to lose.We’re dead men walking either way.”He sat down cross-legged on the floor and set the gun down in front of him.
Julius sighed heavily and looked at the unconscious Shubert on the X then down at Myron before he sat down beside him.“At least we stopped what he had in mind.Kidnap kids?That is insane.We got roped into this by threats to our family and there’ s no fucking way I will do that shit.”
Myron agreed, “Me either, man.And I’m sure sorry about your mom.”
Julius lowered his head.“Yeah, that was another reason I refuse to be a part of this.My mom.I want to do her memory justice and that means doing the right thing.This fucker was gonna wait for the battle to be over then take his kids and shoot Leon in the back.”
They both listened to the shooting going on outside.Neither man moved, they just sat there with a look of resignation on their faces.They had to face justice one way or another and running off wouldn’t help either.Leon wasn’t some dupe like the men who planned all of this assumed that he was.
When the shooting outside stopped, they braced themselves for the justice that might come to them but neither of them moved.They just waited.
Henry woke up a couple of times as he looked confused then he passed out again.
After an hour or so, Shubert groaned and came awake slowly.He tried to get himself free from the X when he was awake enough to figure out where he was.He pulled on his cuffs and tried to break loose but the cuffs wouldn’t budge.Then he remembered the other two men and he twisted himself around to see them sitting there.“You two are dead men!”he shouted.“I’m gonna put a bullet in both your heads.You betrayed our mission here and you’ll pay with your very lives for this.Double G won’t forget or forgive either of you.”
Julius glared at him and replied, “They killed my mom, you fuck.You think I care about your stupidass threats?”
“You kidnapped my wife and if it wasn’t for Leon, she would be dead too,” Myron added.
Shubert muttered and let out a long groan.
The two freed men just sat there quietly.Neither said a word.Then they heard the shooting outside stop and the silence around the house grew.
A short time later, footsteps came down the steps.
Julius raised his hands and locked his fingers behind his head.
Myron followed suit.
The door was finally pushed open.
Leon, John, Iceman and Storm saw them immediately when the door opened to the cell area.
John reached for his weapon.
Leon placed his arm out to stop him as he studied the scene in front of them.He looked from them to the broken window and the new man cuffed to the wooden X.He raised an eyebrow and then he looked over at Julain.“What is going on here?”he asked softly.
Julius nodded at the new guy.“As soon as the shooting began, he broke the window and freed us.He told us the plan was to take your kids hostage then shoot you when you thought this mission was over.I think he thought you would be alone and he would just assassinate you after the fighting was all done outside.I think he was sent in to shoot everyone in the house after the battle outside was done.We couldn’t let that happen.All this should have never happened in the first damn place.”
