Sitting down on a stool behind the front desk, I laugh to myself at Beck’s enthusiasm for new life in the local dating pool.
When you live in a town this size, available men are hard to come by. You or your friends have dated them, they’ve got a bad reputation, or worse, you are related to them. And Beck hasn’t exactly been putting herself out there since her breakup. It’s going to take someone incredibly special to win her heart for good.
After ending my relationship with Danny three years ago, I prefer to date seasonally as tourists are passing through town. I use the term date very loosely. Sometimes it’s dinner, and sometimes it’s a mutually beneficial hook up. I decided I'm not looking for a long-term relationship. I still see Danny occasionally, but we will never be anything more than casual.
