It takes me less than a minute to decide to track Kinsley’s phone after all my calls and messages go unanswered.

Donald told me at the front desk that he hadn’t seen her but that her usual car had been parked out front before I came in like a bat out of hell.

His words not mine.

But he’d said herusual car,and that had the hair standing on the back of my neck.

My message to Scott had gone unanswered, but it didn’t matter because I’d completely ruled him out anyway. I could account for his whereabouts when each message was received, and the guy was a douchebag, not some criminal mastermind.

I’d ignored my instincts for too long because I knew it wasn’t her ex—but it also wasn’t a stranger. It wasn’t anyone in our building or some crazed fan, which left…

Pulling up every screen available, I pore over the information in front of me, looking for what I need.

I nearly jump when my phone vibrates next to me, the message turning my blood to ice in my veins.

KINSLEY: {forwarded message} UNKNOWN: It’s a dangerous world out there, Baby

KINSLEY

Ismell Zander’s cologne before he speaks, the hair on my arms standing on end as I spin around, nearly stumbling as I try to put some distance between us.

“Nowhere to run, Miss Dane.”

“Zander, what the hell is this?”

He snorts, the sound devoid of humor as he stares at me, his size practically taking up the entire hallway. The exit is behind me but I don’t know where it leads or if it’s a dead end. I swallow down the panic and do everything in my power to keep my expression neutral.

This can’t be happening.

Nessa is going to kill me…if Zander doesn’t do it first.

“How did you even know I was here?”
