His football abilities were praiseworthy. It was the man who he was underneath who had stolen my heart. The first night we met, he saved me from some drunk teammates. When practices started, he made it clear that I was off-limits.

Fin wasn’t overbearing, yet his presence was known.

That didn’t cause a problem between me and the other players. If anything, it opened a door for friendshipswithout the awkward sexual tension. To most of the team I was just Vee. After living my life as Reid Hubbard’s daughter, it was a refreshing change.

Being simply Vee or Abby to Fin also made him unique. The way he looked at me, the shimmer in his blue eyes, and the way we could laugh together was all without pretense. Once again, the ability to be me, not the heiress to the Coopers, was exhilarating.

Fin’s suit coat was undone, his tie gone, and his collar unbuttoned. His sapphire-blue stare radiated between his prominent brow and chiseled chin, scanning over me from my hair to my red high-heeled shoes, lingering on all the places in between.

“You’re fucking gorgeous, Vee.”

I swallowed and forced a smile. “We didn’t need to leave the dance early.”

Fin pulled off his suit coat and tossed it onto the carpeting. “Those assholes were drinking way too much. The season might be over, but I don’t want to be associated with a frat party and underage drinking.

“You got me a few drinks.” I grinned. “I’m not twenty-one yet.”

“Only a few.”

“You don’t want me drunk?” I teased.

Fin came closer and opened my winter coat. His chest rose and fell with his deep breaths as he peered down at my strapless dress. With a brush of his fingers, my coat slipped from my shoulders.

“No, Vee. I want you lucid as can be and fully aware of what you’re saying and doing.”

I lifted my hands to his wide shoulders, pressing my hips against his muscular thighs and hips. “I know what I’m doing.”

He wrapped his arms around me, finding my dress’s zipper and tugged. The red satin parted in the back and slithered down my body, leaving me standing in my lace panties, bra, and red high heels surrounded by a red puddle.

“Fuck me, Vee. Every guy at that dance had his eyes on you.”

A soft giggle came from my throat. “I think it was every girl who was watching you.”

The loss of clothing made me shiver, sending goose bumps over my flesh.

“Cold?”

“A little,” I admitted.

To my surprise, Fin unbuttoned his shirt, exposing his muscular chest, and wrapped it over my shoulders. The warm material filled my senses with Fin’s signature sandalwood scent.

“There, that will help while I catch up to you.”

Tugging my lower lip with my teeth, I watched with bated breath as Fin went to the king-sized bed and pulled back the covers, exposing fresh white sheets. He kicked off his shoes, unbuckled his belt, and freed the belt from its loops. His pants fell to the carpet, soonjoined by his socks. Lastly, he came to me, offering me his hand. “We only need to do what you’re comfortable doing.”

Willingly, I laid mine in his and stepped away from the red satin puddle. I looked up. “I trust you. You’ve never given me a reason not to.”

He led me to the bed.

“I want to finally be inside you.”

Swallowing, I nodded. “I think I want that too.” I climbed onto the mattress and sat on my bent legs.

Fin grinned. “It’s time to lose my shirt.”

Without hesitation I pulled it off my shoulders and threw it to the carpet.

“Come on, Vee. Yes or no?” He reached for the closest lamp and switched it off.
