She scratched downward over my ribs, her fingernails leaving a trail of fire—the carnal kind. I wanted her with a terrible fierceness I struggled to rein in. And with her exploration, with each touch of her tongue to mine, with each shift of her body as she sought to get closer, I knew she wanted me just as badly.

Her damp hair stuck to her temples. I slid my hands along her sides to where the edges of her towel were tucked between her breasts.

“Need to touch you,” I mumbled against her lips.

“Please. I want you to.”

I tugged the towel apart, and we both moaned long and loud at the contact. I nibbled my way across her cheek, to her jaw, then lower, lower…

Her nipples were pink jewels and her breasts high, plump treasures. I sucked one into my mouth, desperate for more of her.

The timer buzzed.

I wanted to ignore it.

I needed to taste more of Keelie. Her salty-sweet sweat turned me on as much as the hard little nubs topping her gorgeous tits.

But staying in too long could cause us to dehydrate. With a groan, I clasped the sides of her towel, tucking it back between her breasts.

Another chime.

But this one wasn’t for the timer.

It was my front door.

The damn universe was reminding me of my promise not to push Keelie too fast, too far. After hurting her once, I had to wait until she trusted me—not just with her body, but with her heart.

Chapter35

Keelie

Igulped in air, but the steam made me even dizzier. Cormac had cost me my common sense. I tried to slide off his lap, but my limbs seemed disjointed—almost as if I were drunk off his taste…or maybe Cormac and the sauna.

“I got you,” he murmured. With a soft grunt, he lifted me as he rose from the bench. I rested my cheek against his shoulder, content for the moment to let him hold me. Sweat bloomed wherever we touched—and where we didn’t.

He padded out of the room with a confident stride while I clung to him like a baby lemur. No shame from this girl, because he was big and sexy, and I remained woozy. The fresh air revived me a little. So did the incessant chiming of his doorbell.

He pressed a kiss to my temple as he lowered me to the floor. “I’m going to get the door. Want to take a shower?”

I blinked up at him and nodded. He smiled, smoothing back the few strands of hair that clung to my cheek.

“I’m not sure you should try to walk up the stairs. There’s a bathroom right here. Towels are in the cabinet. Robes, too. I hope you’re okay with the shampoo and stuff, but if not, holler, and I’ll see if I can find something else.”

“I’ll be fine. You need to see who’s freaking out at your door.”

“I already know it’s Maxim,” he dipped his head toward a discreet screen tucked into the bookshelf that ran the length of this wide hall. Cormac’s teammate seemed agitated, taking a few jerky steps before turning back to slam his finger against the doorbell yet again.

“Take your time,” Cormac said. “When you get out, we can have a snack.”

He strode down the hall as I slipped into the bathroom. I turned on the water in the large, glass-walled shower but not to full heat because my body remained warm, thanks to the make-out session on top of the steam. Dropping my towel, I tried not to moan as the fabric slid across my sensitized breasts.

“We might have steamed it up just fine on our own,” I muttered as I stepped under the spray. I bit back a squeal as the too-cool water attacked my flesh, splashing over my relaxed muscles.

I turned the hot water up and turned down the cold. Once the water had warmed, I shoved my face into the spray, which helped to clear the haze of lust.

I turned and rinsed my hair, enjoying the large stall. When I squeezed the bottle, the shampoo’s scent was woodsier than I preferred, but it smelled clean and crisp, like Cormac, which I liked very much. I finished my hair and smiled as I rubbed the soap over my belly and down my legs. Once clean, I turned off the water and dried off with a big, white fluffy towel before wrapping my tangled hair in it, turban style. Then I shrugged on the thick robe. I could hear voices—Cormac’s deep voice and Maxim’s even deeper one coming out in staccato sentences.

I frowned as I opened the door. I picked up my sweaty towel and padded toward their voices.
