He laughed as he released me. Opening his door, intent on coming around to help me out, he frowned when I bounced out of my seat and met him at the hood.
After a shake of his head, he took my hand and led me toward the entrance.
He stopped just short of the door, and I turned to face him. He cleared his throat. “No ditching me for the golf dude, okay?”
My grin widened. Cormac did not know how amazing he was. He’d listened to my interests and read between the lines and found the most perfect gift for me—one I’d never give myself. Golf lessons were impractical when I needed to be aware of my budget. But this would increase my enjoyment of a game I already loved, in part because I’d play with him.
But he actually seemed nervous behind his poor attempt at a joke, so I rose on my tiptoes and kissed his dimpled chin. “Remember when I asked about being exclusive? I meant it.”
Cormac released a gusty sigh. “Good. I want to keep it that way.”
If he could make me this giddy, I imagined he’d never have to worry.
Chapter24
Cormac
Keelie lifted and lowered her feet in their new golf spikes, wiggling her cute butt. I’d asked Denny, our teacher, to provide us each with the proper equipment, and Keelie now sported iridescent purple spikes and a matching visor. I’d chosen a much more sedate gray version. When she protested about me buying her a set of clubs, too, I nipped her ear as I whispered, “You need the right equipment if you want to win.”
She shivered and tipped her head back to meet my gaze. “You think you’re going to beat me, hockey man?”
I enjoyed her brand of teasing, wanted more of it. Maybe she wasn’t the only one who needed reassurances. “I have no clue,” I told her. “But it’ll be fun to see how it goes tomorrow.”
I meant that. I’d never played before, but I wanted to do this with her…for her. So, I paid attention to Denny’s instructions, awed by the ease with which Keelie absorbed his suggestions into her stance and swing. Her affinity for golf reminded me of mine for hockey—she was a natural. I was not.
And yet, here I was. Keelie’s round ass kept distracting me as I lined up my shot. I took a deep breath, striving to find my focus. She wiggled again. But this time I caught her grin before she looked back toward the driving range.
“You’re doing that on purpose,” I called.
“What?” She looked over her shoulder at me, all wide-eyed innocence.
After finally managing my shot—which landed far short of its intended target. I leaned on my new club. Golf was…okay. I kind of sucked at it, but I could understand the allure of being outside, moving your body, and competing. But I enjoyed winning, and ass distraction aside, Keelie had an aptitude for the game that I lacked. After coaching her for ten minutes, Denny had said, “Her understanding of the game is innate and spot-on.”
Keelie prepared for her shot, and with a graceful backswing, lifting the club just as Denny showed her, she powered through with her hips, slamming the driver against the ball in the sweet spot. The ball curved up and out in an elegant parabola, landing a good three hundred feet on the driving range.
Keelie bounced and leaped into my arms, wrapping her legs around me and peppering my face with kisses. “I love this date.”
I clasped her thighs in my hands, tugging her against me as I caught her lips and deepened the kiss. She tasted sweet with just a hint of heat, and she gave me everything. Keelie had two modes: cautious and all-in.
“Want to get dinner?” I asked, pulling back just enough to articulate my words.
“If that’s what you want,” she replied, her eyes heavy with desire.
Chapter25
Keelie
Cormac took my hand but had to let go to grab the bag with his clubs, then mine. He’d bought me an entire set of golf clubs. And shoes. He bowled me over with his generosity.
“Oh, let me take those.” I hurried forward and clasped the shoulder strap of my bag. He arched a brow as if to say,I got this, but I didn’t want anyone touching my beauties…even if Cormac had handled their purchase. I slid the bag onto my shoulder and clasped his hand in mine. “This was so much fun. Thank you.”
Cormac led me through the air-conditioned clubhouse where we found Denny to say goodbye.
“Be sure to let me know who wins tomorrow,” he said with a smile. “My money’s on you, Keelie.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “It’s going to be fun, no matter the outcome.”
Denny shared a look with Cormac, who shrugged. “She’s not competitive.”
