“I think I’ll wear this glove tonight,” I state with a sly smile.

“It won’t distract you from playing well?”

“No, tonight your scent on my glove will spur me on to win.” I set it aside and straighten her sweater with a gentle touch.

The reality of what we’ve done returns when she gasps, peering down at her slick thighs. “Oh my god. I have to get back to Aiden. Everyone will know?—”

“Relax, baby.” I grab one of the folded towels on the shelf. I take it to the supply closet sink, wet it with warm water, and return. Using gentle strokes, I take care of her, cleaning her up, performing a sacred ceremony. I place her panties and her leggings back where they were, like new. “I told you I’d take care of you.”

“Why is it so sexy what you just did?”

“There’s more coming if you keep letting me in,” I promise.

“I might.” Her teasing smile is slow, knowing, until worry crashes in, her brows stitching together. “What did we just do?”

“We both proved that there’s still something between us. And if you’ll let me, we’ll keep exploring that and see where it leads?”

She places a hand on my chest and reaches up for a quick kiss. “I’d like that.”

At the door, she stops one more time, hands smoothing her hair into the ponytail. “Do I look put back together?”

“To me, you look like a very satisfied, very beautiful woman, but to everyone else? Don’t worry. They’ll have no clue about our secret in the closet.”

We rush out and rejoin the group at the sin bin, slipping back into place as if nothing happened. Just in time, too, asit’s Aiden’s turn next to sit in it for photographs. He waves enthusiastically at us.

When the tour is over and I need to head to the locker room to suit up for the game, Aiden gives me a fist bump.

“Good luck, coach,” he says, and he takes off with the group to the private box suite.

I take hold of Stella’s hand before she can get away, and keep her back for a moment longer.

“Listen, there’s a literacy fundraiser in Denver next week, sponsored by Ethan and Journey—you remember them? I played with Ethan on the Tigers.” I casually start.

“Journey, yes. She was so sweet back in college.”

“I’m hoping you’ll come with me.”

She arches her brow. “Like a date?”

“Yeah. But we have to be in costume. The theme is superheroes.”

She nods. “Send me the details, and I’ll think about it.”

I grin because it’s progress. “You’d better cheer loud for me tonight.”

She walks off and glances back at me, eyes sparkling. “If you score, then I will.”

“With my magic glove, it’s almost a guarantee,” I call.

Her laughter reaches my ears the further away she gets.

Mason comes up and socks my arm in jest. “So… where were you two?”

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” I play it off nonchalantly. The guys chirp behind me all the way to the locker room about sneaking off with Stella, but I don’t care. I scored big today.

IF I WEAR IT…
