It was like I couldn’t. This was a snapshot into her life now. Into the woman she had become when she had left me and taken my heart with her.

Time passed, but it didn’t mean anything to me. I was too lost in watching her.

“Matteo?”

I shook myself as a woman called my name again. “Hey.”

For a second, she looked nervous as she hung behind the half-closed door.

“What can I help you with…” I paused and frowned. What was her name? She had been running the front office for over a month, and yet, I couldn’t remember.

“Is it okay if I leave now, or do you need me for…”

Confused, I dropped my eyes to the antique watch on my wrist. It was almost seven p.m. Time had passed so quickly because I had been so engrossed in watching Sophia just do normal, everyday things.

“Of course. I didn’t mean to keep you for so long.” Pushing myself up to my feet, I smiled at her. “Go home to your family. I’ll close up here.”

“If you are sure, Matteo.”

“Of course. I’m going to head out to dinner myself.” Now that I realized the time, I was hungry. Maybe not for food, but for the woman I had left home alone for hours.

I wanted to eat her up until there was nothing else left.

But not right away. As much as I wanted her, I needed her to learn her place first, and I had the perfect place to take her.

An hour later, I was pushing my way into the apartment.

“Matteo?” At the sound of my key in the door, she had scrambled up. Her face was sleepy, like she had been napping. “I didn’t expect you to come back.”

“I thought you might be hungry.” Striding toward her, it took every ounce of self-control I had not to grab her and force my tongue into her mouth.

I wanted to kiss her more than I wanted my next breath. Every time I thought I could ruin her, she would look at me with those soft brown eyes, and I was back to being a lovesick puppy again.

“I’ve eaten.”

“Let me rephrase that for you, Sophia. I want to take you out for dinner,” I said firmly. “There’s a dress in the closet. It’s black velvet. I would like you to wear it and get ready while I shower. Is that understood?”

“No one wears velvet—"

My eyes flashed. “You do. Now go. I’m hungry and…”

I let my eyes travel up and down her body. Those curves were just screaming for my hands on them, and my cock wanted to bereacquainted with the feel of her pussy so badly it was all I could think about.

If she didn’t hurry up and dress, then we wouldn’t leave the apartment tonight.

“You got it.” Without another word, she walked away, the perfect picture of demure submission.

She was still the perfect picture when we took our seats in the most hip restaurant in the city. Taking my usual seat in the corner, I watched as she reached for her own chair, the host rushing forward to do it for her.

“No need for that,” I snapped at him and watched as his eyes darted away from her cleavage guiltily. Had he really been checking out her tits when I was right here? It was clear she was with me.

Not that I blamed her. Sophia looked like a million bucks, but she was here with me, and his eyes should have been on her face or somewhere else in this room.

He was lucky I didn’t pluck those eyes out and feed them to him.

“She will be sitting here with me.”

They both turned to me in shock, both wearing mirroring confused expressions.
