I roused myself, blinking my eyes to try and clear the sultry haze still veiling my mind. Heimdallr canted to the side, leaning against Dörr, his head on my alpha’s shoulder. Dörr had wrapped both of his arms around us, keeping me from slipping to the floor.
I blinked again. Trying to make my brain function.
I fed on the god for hours. However long it took us to drive from the waterfall into Reykjavík.
Hours.
Shaken, I lifted my mouth from my bite. Blood still oozed from the punctures, so I hadn’t drained him completely.
“Astounding,” Heimdallr slurred, his slow grin lopsided. “Helayna, one. Heimdallr, zero. Well done, Your Majesty. I am officially weak kneed.”
“Goddess,” I breathed out. “I’m so sorry.”
He huffed out a laugh and pulled himself upright, though his words were still slurred. “Not at all. I’m delighted to have been used so well. My only complaint is it might take me some timeto replenish the stores enough to satisfy any other use you may have for me.”
My cheeks heated. How many times had he made me climax without even touching me intimately? Just by pulling his rainbows through me?
“Too many to count,” he replied, grinning wider.
“How can I even hold so much blood in my stomach? That doesn’t seem possible.”
He shrugged. “Magic.”
“How do you feel, my queen?” Dörr asked.
I turned my awareness inward, seeking any discomfort or pain. My Blood bonds shimmered in my head with all the colors of the rainbows, even the dark alfar ones. They glistened like opalescent oil slicks. Lokken’s glacial blue sparkled with pearls. Gunnarr’s thick fur sparkled like snow beneath the aurora borealis.
And Heimdallr’s bond gleamed as gold as his eyes. No rainbows at all.
I dipped deeper through my body, looking for anything that might have changed. My stomach wasn’t uncomfortably distended despite swallowing buckets of blood. My organs all seemed the same as far as I was aware. I couldn’t recall the last time I’d actually looked at my own biology. My bones shimmered with pearly energy. Had it always been like this? I couldn’t remember.
I turned to Dörr and lay my palm over his heart. “Can I look inside you?”
“Always. You never have to ask me for anything, my queen.”
I sank into him, noting his human organs in this form. His heart seemed quite large compared to mine, but he was also a larger body. His bones gleamed as brightly as mine, but thicker and heavier. Again, that made sense given he was so much bigger than me. Stronger than me, at least physically. I pulledmy awareness back out, and he sighed softly.:I love having you inside me.:
:Then I shall do it far more often, Darkest.:
Eyes narrowed with concern, I turned back to Heimdallr. His face was drawn and grayed despite the golden shine in his eyes. “You should feed before we get to the house.”
His eyes narrowed. “I’m perfectly fine, Your Majesty. I already feel the spark replenishing just from being near you.”
“I need you at full strength.” My head tipped slightly, weighing my choices. I could simply bite myself and press the blood to his lips. He wouldn’t refuse. But it would be ever so much better if he bit me with those shining golden shards.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and lifted me up higher against his chest. “Why didn’t you say so, my queen? As always, I’m delighted to be of service.” Then he lowered his mouth to my neck.
My head fell back even further, my eyelids already fluttering with anticipation. His lips teased my skin in soft, gentle kisses. His tongue flicked against my pulse, my heartbeat thumping harder. I curled my arm around his neck, my fingers closing on his coiled hair.
:Gently,:he whispered.:Exquisitely. I should not make you come too loudly.:
My heart stuttered, my fingers tightening on his hair. Making his lips curl in a smile against my throat. I barely felt the sting of his teeth sliding into my skin. They were too sharp to hurt much, and he barely used any force at all. Just enough to puncture into the pumping vein in my throat.
Despite the small wounds, my blood spurted like a fountain, eager to flow into him. He shuddered, a heavy groan escaping his lips. He locked his open mouth harder on my flesh, drinking deep. Sucking on my throat so he could swallow in great gulps.Heat rose between us, a shimmering promise, a whispered oath his body made. When we were skin to skin, fresh to flesh…
He would be insatiable. He would pleasure me for hours, just as he allowed me to drink his blood without pause. Without any restrictions of his own need. This man had stood guard above Ásgarðr since Lady Hel had first walked the shores of Náströnd. Listening. Watching. Endlessly.
He wouldn’t succumb to his own desire until I begged him for reprieve.
