“Jesus, Jack, please tell me you can get Stryker to eat something.” I whispered instead.

Jack froze in the action of removing his boots “he’s eatennothing?” He asked in a strained voice.

“I’ve tried.” I pleaded, mainly so he wouldn’t pummel me into a wall, “he keeps getting sick.”

“Oh, Jesus.” Jack muttered, dumping his weapons on the floor “where is he?”

“Living room. Asleep.”

Jack darted off, me following. Stryker wasn’t asleep anymore, clearly roused by his arrival, and his eyes visibly brightened at the sight of him. Jack was on his knees in front of him, brushing his hair out of his face and whispering.

“I’m fine.” I heard Stryker mumble. Jack screwed up his nose “yeah. Sure. We gonna eat something together, then? I’m starving.”

“I’m not your girlfriend.” Stryker snorted back, though it was a clear form of deflection.

Jack squeezed his knee “come on. Something light, okay?”

Stryker’s expression dropped “it won’t stay down.”

“Because you don’t want it to.” Jack sighed “how long haven’t you eaten for?”

At Stryker’s lack of response, Jack grimaced “thought so. Come on. For me?”

Stryker frowned. Jack sighed “if not for me, do it for your kid, S. You’re no good to anyone dead.”

“Yeah.” Stryker choked out “you’re right.”

“Iknow I am.”

CHAPTER 25

Matthew

Theo kept mumbling that Zeltron sucked because it lookedexactlylike Draelon; copy and paste- besides the port, of course.

I flipped him off as we stood at the palace gates, sun beating down on us,unusually warm for January, “no. It’s better than Draelon.”

“It’s thesame.”Theo whined, rolling his eyes.

“Better.” I insisted, mainly to wind him up because to be honest he was right.

“We’re staying at the palace.” Dean grinned, bouncing happily like a five year old “at thepalace!”

Stryker didn’t look interested, waving a dismissive hand. “Not that amazing.”

“Says the fuckingprince.”Dean grumbled.

I chuckled.

“We’re only staying because we’re in Johnathan’s group.” Nikolas said gruffly, approaching us “he pulled a few strings. The others are camping out on the border, soyou.”He pointed a finger at Stryker’s face “be grateful.”

Stryker shot him a sarcastic smile.

Theo turned back to face me when I nudged his arm. “Want to come to my place?”

I’d had to muster up the courage to ask, mainly because it would mean he’d have to meet my dad, but figured that I’d seen his so it was only fair.

His brows furrowed “with the others?”
