“Fuck, Monroe.” He lowered his mouth to mine.
Every nerve ending in my body felt electrified.
“Touch yourself,” he commanded, driving deeper inside me, more urgent, more erratic.
I slid my hand between us, and he slowed his thrusts as I circled my clit.
“That’s it, Sunshine. You look fucking beautiful when you’re about to come undone.”
As if his words were all I needed, I was cresting over the edge. He knew it, too, as he pounded into me, his breathing ragged.
And when I shattered, crying out his name as waves of pleasure washed over me, he became a madman, sweat slicking his body, thrusting in and out erratically. But when I squeezed around his erection, he drove in hard one last time as he stared down at me, never losing momentum.
He was gorgeous, with the darkest blue eyes that said way too much yet not enough.
He groaned out his release. “You’re so fucking perfect, Monroe.”
Then he stilled for one beat before his tongue was in my mouth, dancing, teasing, taking, devouring.
I matched his intensity, and if he stopped, I would wither away. “What have you done to me?”
“Everything you wanted.” He trailed his lips along my jaw to my ear. “Everything I wanted. You’re mine, Monroe.”
I stiffened. “What are you saying?”
He nipped on my earlobe. “I’m saying, I want more of you, us.”
“Stay the night with me.”
I didn’t know what tomorrow would look like, but I was certain I wanted him filling all of my days.

MONROE
The midmorning sun filtered through the dining room windows as I sat there grading papers. It was taking me an hour to grade one test as my mind kept drifting back to last night. Every word we’d spoken, every conversation we had, and every minute that Jace had me screaming his name until he woke at six this morning and gave me the best goodbye present. No doubt he wanted me to remember him between my legs.
Hell, my body was still tingling as if he were here touching me. I stared out the window, daydreaming about how he would never cheat, how he treated me like I was fragile, how I was his.
“You’re mine. I want more of you, us.”
The conviction in his voice when he’d said those things left me tangled in one breath and sighing in another, like I might already be falling.
My phone vibrated on the table, making me jump. Jace’s name flashed on the screen. He’d left early because he had things to do, and I didn’t question him either. I needed time to myself to process what had happened between us. Was I ready for a relationship? He certainly was.
Jace:I had a great time last night. Sorry I couldn’t snuggle with you this morning.Duty calls.
I stiffened at his last line. Suddenly, that butterfly haze he had me in vanished faster than the speed of sound. Duty? Military? Ryan had torn out of here when duty called, and look where that got me.
Slow down, lady. At least Jace is communicating. And he’s not Ryan. Get that out of your head.
Me:Thank you for an amazing night, big guy.
Jace:Big guy, huh? So I passed the test, Teach?
Me:A-plus. Then I added a laughing emoji
Jace:I have a busy week, but I would love to see you again. I meant what I said. I want you. I want us.
