“What the hell?” I slap his arm. “Stop that.”

Aiden laughs, taking a step closer toward me and caging me between his body and the wall. “You can’t imagine my disappointment when I woke up this morning, and you weren’t there.”

“I had no obligation to stay. Thought that was obvious,” I scoff. “Don’t tell me you’ve never had a one-night stand before?”

“You were my first time with a man.”

“Yeah, right.”

I carefully push him out of my way to get back to the party before someone notices I’m gone. Aiden grabs my wrist the same way he did the previous night at the bar.

“Where are you going?”

“Back to work,” I say curtly, making him frown.

He lets go of my wrist and smiles cockily instead. “Then at least give me your number.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “You can do that much for me, don’t you think?”

“No.” I start walking away, and oddly enough, he follows after me. “Stop following me, you stalker.”

“If you don’t give it to me, I’ll come find you where you work and make a scene.”

Fucking hell, why do I always stumble across weird men? I need a fucking drink.

“You’ve gotta be kidding.”

“I’ve never been more serious, baby.”

“Don’t call me that.”

His smirk widens. “But you love it. Don’t you remember how you clenched around my cock last night after I called you baby? You can deny it, but we both know it’s true.”

I flush and scan our surroundings. “Shut up.”

“So?” He grins, hovering over me with his tall build.

“Fine, but don’t fucking call.”

He hands me his phone, and I type my number in. He gives it a call–unbothered by what Ijusttold himnotto do–then grabs my hand and presses a kiss to the back of it.

“It was a pleasure seeing you again, Aoi.” He winks, his lips grazing my skin. “Seeyou soon.”

Aoi

To my surprise, nobody seems to have noticed my absence until I get back and let my boss order a Cosmopolitan for me at the open bar. Barely ten minutes later, I begin feeling sick to my stomach.

Clutching my belly over my suit, I evade the room once again. I wander through the hallways in search of a bathroom, but can’t find my way through this lavish labyrinth. I hold on to the wall on my left, and it takes every ounce of strength to prevent myself from crashing onto the ground. My entire being is boiling.

I continue leaning my entire body against the wall and stumble across the wobbly path. Where am I going again?

A pulsing pain is running amok in my head. Flinching at the sounds of the party a few doors away, I exhale a loud breath. Voices vibrate through the walls, but they’re so distorted that I can’t distinguish a word. My vision is gradually getting blurrier.

What’s happening to my body?

I didn’t even drink that much. My body is on fire and won’t respond to my commands anymore.

I manage to take a few more steps before bumping into a broad torso. Just my luck.
