I hear them all say back, and just as quickly as it all started, the holograms disappear, and the others start walking out of the room. But not before I hear, ‘welcome brother’, as they all pat me on the shoulder before leaving. I am still slightly dazed by what just happened. Thankfully, Edie still has her senses about her.
“EvO, what now?”
“We have about a rotation and a half before we meet up with ANDI, so enjoy this quiet time, and do some of that talking you have been too busy to do and enjoy being newly mated; it only gets better rising after rising.”
With the room cleared, the large panels on the walls open. All this time, we have been in the viewing chamber where I first found Edie hiding in a chair, looking out at the stars. Edie puts her hand against the opening, as if she is trying to touch the stars. Walking up behind her, I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her back against me, and take a deep breath.
“I was not expecting that. I have a feeling I am going to be overwhelmed for a while. But what a feeling, a future … and you. If the God of Ruk takes me right now, I am a happy male.”
“Well, don’t tempt him, because I think I’m craving some of those lessons you like to give out, and I hear practice makes perfect.”
I throw my head back laughing before picking her up in my arms and heading out of the room, my heart full of the love I can feel growing between us. I really am a blessed male. Whatever the future throws at us, as long as she is in my arms, we will prevail.
