I sat there staring at my phone until it lit up twenty minutes later.
Toni:Don’t be askin’ me about my husband. Stop inboxin’ me.
Her tone made my blood boil.
Echo:Girl bye! I asked you a simple question.
Another reply came back fast.
Toni:Don’t ask me shit.
My pride snapped clean in half, and I couldn’t help but hit this bitch where it hurt.
Echo:Again, I asked a simple question but since you wanna be rude about it, Kay’Lo fuckin’ me now and I’m not comin’ up off that nigga. I was tryna get to the truth but since you wanna play, cool.
I hit send and sat back, my heart pounding, and anger mixing with shame because even as I said it, I knew it wasn’t true. I just hated how she talked to me. I hated how small he made me feel, and now this bitch was doing the same thing.
Her reply came within seconds.
Toni:Girl, I don’t give a fuck about you not comin’ up off him cause I’m the one he answer to. You not lettin’ him go, cool… just remember I’m the one he can’t come up off. Get the fuck out my DMs.
I stared at the screen, and even though I sent laughing emojis because I refused to let her see me fold, nothing inside of me felt funny.
This lady had me fucked up in every direction, and now all I could think about was fighting her, fighting him and fighting anybody who made me feel this damn worthless.
‘Lo Motion Customs
It wasn’t even a damn hour since Echo left my shop and Toni was already goin’ off on me, sendin’ me screenshots of the messages that dumbass girl slid in her inbox. My phone lit up back to back like Toni was tryna burn the battery out with how fast she was textin’ me, and every message got my blood boilin’ more ‘cause Echo really had the fuckin’ nerve to go from poppin’ up at my shop to lyin’ on my name in Toni’s DMs like she was somebody important in my life.
Toni:So you still fuckin’ her?
Toni:Why the fuck she in my inbox talkin’ bout y’all fuckin’? Why she sayin’ you not comin’ up off her?
Me:Toni chill out, I ain’t fuckin’ with that girl.
Toni:Then why the fuck she say y’all been fuckin’? Who lyin’?
Me:She is, baby. Bitches lie everyday over dumb shit.
Toni:That mean you gave her somethin’ to lie about.
I threw my head back and dragged my hand down my face ‘cause I was tired as hell of Echo tryna squeeze meanin’ out of somethin’ that ain’t mean shit, and I was even more tired of Toni thinkin’ I was still givin’ that girl any kinda damn attention.
I finally hit Toni’s call button ‘cause the texts wasn’t movin’ nowhere but towards her cussin’ me out harder.
She answered quick and I could hear how tight her voice was.
“What Kay’Lo?”
“Man, I ain’t got shit goin’ on with her,” I said, feelin’ exhausted as fuck. “I ain’t talked to her. I ain’t seen her. I ain’t touched her… in weeks!”
“But why she sayin’ it then?” Toni fired back. “If y’all not fuckin’, why the fuck she so comfortable lyin’ on yo’ dick?”
“‘Cause she weird,” I snapped. “And she mad I’m not answerin’ her calls. That’s all this is. She tryna get a reaction outta me or you or whoever. I ain’t fuckin’ with her. I been told you I was done with her. Block her ass.”
She was quiet for a second, like she was tryna decide if she believed me or not.
“Whatever, Kay’Lo.”
