“You’ll have to prove that to me, sir,” he whispered, a sort of shyness making his words come out softer than before. A blush spread across his cheeks and he reached up to touch the scar on the right side of his face.

My stomach clenched at the movement. I wished he could see how beautiful he was from my point of view. His scars were part of his recent past, and while I didn’t know what had happened, it was easy to see the trauma he’d been through.

“Well, my body isveryproportionate.” I hoped to see him laugh again. I succeeded, and his carefreeness was stunning. If I had it my way, I’d take him back to the house and lock him inside to keep him safe forever. “Righto, Lolly, before we get home. Tell me what happened at the hotel.”

He winced and all the amusement on his face vanished. His shoulders slumped. “When I got back to the rooms, the doors were open. It couldn’t be the maid because there was no cart. When I snuck a peek, I saw the guy who robbed us going through my things. It happened fast, but he managed to escape. I chased him, but when he pointed the gun at me and shot, I ducked. Then he was gone. I was a terrible lookout.” He shook his head. “Fuck. Mr. Killough and Cillian will be so mad at me.”

I raised his hand to my lips, pressing a hard kiss on the back. “Don’t you worry about them, Lolly. You’re mine to protect now. I’ll handle it if I have to.”

“I don’t need you to fight my battles,” he argued quietly, gaze glued to where our hands were connected. “I’m a McCorkell. We’ve always been Killough men. I can stand up for myself.”

“Just because you can, doesn’t mean I can’t have your back.” I stopped at a light near Castle Hill, which was getting closer to home. My house was a quarter of the way up the incline and had a beautiful view because of it, but it’d also cost me a lot of cash.

“You don’t know me.” He frowned. “We met last night, and you saw me in a nice outfit. I could be a serial killer for all you know!”

I laughed loudly. “Lolly, I’m a mob boss. Iama serial killer. Does that scare you?”

“No....” He took a deep breath and widened his big green eyes. “That’s hot, actually.”

My cock twitched and I grinned at him. “How about I find the man who raided your rooms and kill him in front of you?”

He shook his head fast and swallowed. “I’ve never killed anyone. Can you... let me watch for real? I would love that.”

Blood filled my boner and there was nothing in this country that could make me soft after hearing those sweet words from his mouth.Fuck me. I didn’t care if the traffic lights were about to turn green. I grabbed him by the back of the neck and heaved him forward, slamming my mouth against his in a dominating kiss. He melted under my touch, and his reaction was as sexy as the rest of him. He let me take charge, and if there was anything that got me off, it was control.

The fool in the car behind us honked the horn.

Through the back window I gave them the middle finger, but I broke the kiss, watching Finn carefully. His lashes fluttered and he let out a small gasp. My cock throbbed as I forced my concentration back to the steering wheel. I put the ute in gear and turned the corner, climbing the hill. I kept checking him from the corner of my eye, and he was leaning back against the seat, a silly sort of smile on his face.

When I pulled the Land Cruiser into my driveway, taking the ute around the back of the house, we saw a couple of the Americans we’d left behind. One of the blokes who seemed to give Finn hell crossed his arms when he spotted us.

Finn winced and paled, twisting to look at me. “Sir, what about my things? They.... fuck. They don’t know about what I wear. If they knew, they would never let it go.”

I shook my head, protectiveness making me grip the wheel tighter. “Don’t you worry about them, Lolly. I’ll handle it.”

“I don’t want them to know.” His voice wavered and eyebrows furrowed. “It’ll be more trouble than it’s worth.”

I inhaled deeply and nodded. “We can tell them that you brought back a woman last night.”

“Are you sure?” He swallowed, Adam’s apple bobbing.

“Yes.” I gritted my teeth at the thought of him being with someone else, even though it was a lie. My stomach churned with an irrational jealousy, and I imagined getting out and smashing the jaw of the man in front of my ute. “And we can say she brought some things to entertain you.”

He stared at me for a moment and nodded. “Thank you.”

I smirked. “It doesn’t matter what they think. As long as they know you’re mine now.”

He gave me a nervous smile and took a deep breath.

I grabbed his hand again and laid a kiss on his palm this time. My cock was still throbbing and hard as a rock, but I didn’t care if the men outside saw it. I had nothing to be ashamed of because I was with the prettiest man I’d ever seen. I might’ve only known him for barely a day, but my gut feelings had always been right. It didn’t pay to second guess myself. Plus, I’d never met anyone like him. Fuck what society thought about the love at first sight shit. All people needed to know was that he wasmine at first sight.

“Let’s go, Lolly.”

He nodded.
