This waswhy I didn’t enjoy toys.

The fear that something so simple could turn into an absolute nightmare had taken root in me even before this morning.Feck. If Cillian heard about this, he would never let me live it down. After Vail had confirmed the ring was stuck, I’d called Nick, much to Fallon’s embarrassment.

After I’d explained the situation, he’d told me he would be here immediately.

“What do ye mean? That’s a drive and a half, Nick,” I muttered, my face hotter than the sun as I glanced at Fallon in concern.

Nick laughed with a smidge of giddy embarrassment. “I went on a date in the Hamptons with this new guy. But don’t tell Aspen! He’ll tell my mother, and I’ll never hear the end of it. She’ll want to meet him, and we’ve only been on one date.” He cleared his throat to gather himself, and I winced because my only worry right now was Fallon. “Anyway, you caught me at the right time. I was going to start driving back to the city. I’ll be there in five.”

Vail rubbed Fallon’s back in comfort. They were sitting on the bed, Fallon staring disbelievingly down at his cock while Vail tilted his head at me, his brown eyes wider than usual. The anxiety building up in his gaze was growing rapidly and I could tell he was reining himself in as well as he could.

Nick arrived in three minutes flat and knocked on the door, and I raced out of the room and down the stairs to greet him. Even though I was in a rush, I stopped to appreciate how good Aspen’s cousin looked in his date outfit. With a dark gray polo shirt that clung to his pecs like it was making love to them, extra tight blue jeans, and brown leather dress shoes, he was beyond handsome. His short, black curls glistened. Whatever man had taken him on a date was lucky.

“What’s this?” I teased, pointing at his chin, where he had a short beard that I didn’t remember from last time. The new facial hair suited him.

He swatted at me. “Careful, you’re beginning to sound like Aspen.”

Snorting, I urged him up the steps to my bedroom. As soon as we got through the door, he strode straight over to the bed and knocked Fallon’s hands out of the way when Fallon tried to cover himself.

“Yours isn’t the first I’ve seen from a patient, Fallon, and it isn’t going to be the last.” Nick rolled his eyes and crouched. He was too close for my liking, but I reminded myself he wasn’t only a doctor, but he was Aspen’s cousin. Everything he did was because he cared for us.

“Is this titanium?” He glanced up at me, looking for answers, and I immediately grabbed the packaging, which I had discarded on the floor. He stood and came over to me, and I tapped the wordtitaniumon the box.

“Yep.”

He whistled. “Two hundred and fifty dollars? Jeeze. You didn’t go for a cheap cock ring, did you?”

Fallon groaned and buried his face in his hands while Vail continued to rub his back and whispered something into his ear.

Nick winced and offered Fallon a sympathetic smile. “The hospital is the only choice. They’ll need to cut it off. You should go to the closest one.”

“That’s ridiculous. I don’t want to do this.” Fallon’s words were pleading, full of desperation that had my stomach curling in anxiety. He gave Nick a terrified stare. “Can’t it just... fall off? The ring, that is, not my dick. I mean, my boner could go down andta-da! The ring comes off.”

Nick sighed and crossed his arms. He looked at Fallon and pursed his lips. “No. That ring is stopping your erection from going down. It comes down to physics. I’m sorry. But you have no choice. You need to go to the hospital, oritwill fall off, and yes, I mean your penis.”

The sound that left Fallon’s throat was agonizing, and Vail wrapped his arms around his shoulders, hugging him tightly.

“We need to go,” Vail begged.

“No, no, no. Please.” Fallon struggled against Vail’s hug, but it was weak.

“Fallon Maher, the sooner this gets done, the sooner we get home and forget all about it.” Vail smoothed his hand down Fallon’s cheek, and I was surprised he was keeping it together. He was hyperfocused on Fallon, making him his one priority.

“I won’t do it! No.”

Nick patted me on the shoulder. “Good luck with him. Call me if you need me. I’m heading home.”

He left us there to reason with Fallon.

Finally, with some sweet convincing from Vail, we found ourselves at the ER here in the Hamptons, rather than wasting the time to go to the city.

Fallon was dressed, but he kept a jacket covering the front of his trousers. If anyone noticed, they didn’t say anything. As soon as we informed the nurse at the front desk of theissue, she got us in quite fast and found Fallon a bed in a small room.

“This issoembarrassing,” Fallon muttered, rubbing his flushed face. “I’ve never been so humiliated in my life.”

There were two seats on the right side of the bed that Vail and I took, and Vail held both my hand and Fallon’s, a small apologetic smile on his face. He wore one of his favorite tweed jackets and jeans, and looked every bit the academic doctor he was.

“It isn’t that bad. I read about a man who got a toy car stuck in his ass. It was so far up into his body they had to operate.” Vail’s eyes widened. “They won’t have to operate with you, I’m sure. They’ll just cut the ring off. Right?” He spun toward me and gripped my hand tighter, looking for reassurance. I wasn’t the right man for the job because I didn’t know the answer, but I smiled comfortingly anyway.
