He nodded. “No wonder with everything happening.”
“But this worried?”
He shrugged. “Conall has intel we don’t, guaranteed.”
Aspen shoved my shoulder, and I snuck farther into the room, going around to Rowen’s side of the bed. With an evil grin, I rested my hand on the grip of his gun. “Rowen,” I hissed in his ear.
He sat up and slapped his hand on mine, but then shocked the hell out of me when he swung for my face. I stumbled out of the way and put up both hands.
He threw his pillow and it smacked my face. “Ye almost died,” he barked.
“Didn’t.” I stuck my tongue out at him. “Ye’re too fecking slow.”
“Ye still could,” he said, sniffing in my direction. He shook his head. “Dear God in Heaven, ye almost scared my soul clean out of my body.” He motioned me closer, and I was wary but happy when he hugged me. “I’m glad ye’re home again,” he said.
I hugged him back, relieved to see the wanker.
Rowen dropped back down onto his back on the bed, and I felt bad because he seemed a step beyond exhausted. Who knew how long they’d been awake or what they’d been doing? “We didn’t get Joaquin.”
Rowen groaned and ran a hand over his eyes. “All that bullshite and he’s still off causing trouble. Ye can’t be serious.”
Crossing my arms, I kicked at his foot where it hung off the bed, and he pulled it back. “I already feel bad about it. Why is everyone holed up in here?”
“Half our best men are at the hospital with Fionn,” Conall murmured quietly from his couch. “Lor wanted to be in here with Vail, and I wanted to be near Lor in case something went wrong. I need to make sure he’s safe. It made sense to just keep all of us in one spot for now.” He shrugged and stifled a yawn.
I frowned, rubbing the back of my neck. “Why are ye worried about Lor? Because he can’t defend himself? Ye shouldn’t’ve done this. The boys could’ve camped out in yer room so ye could’ve been more comfortable. The boss wouldn’t want ye put out. Or ye could’ve hopped on the bed.”
Conall laughed and the sound was so dark it gave me a thrill. “Oh, yeah, Sloan would love it if he called from jail and I told him the minute he was sent away I hopped in bed with three other guys.” The smile he sent me clearly called me aneejit.
“You’re in the room with them. You might as well. This isn’t normal times. The boss is possessive, but he isn’t stupid. He trusts you,” Aspen said, shaking his head.
Conall lifted his eyebrows at him but didn’t say anything else on the subject. “Anyway, it made sense to just come in here. I don’t want to be where people expect to find me right now.” He ran a hand over his face and looked like he’d been gutted. “I still have no idea what is going on. Sloan hasn’t called yet. I don’t know when the fuckers will allow it.”
“Where’s Fionn? Hospital in the city?” I asked. “He’s covered? We can roll out if ye need us.”
Conall shook his head. “Daire is looking after him.”
“Oh, you’re home!” Vail’s happy voice startled all of us, and I grunted when he launched in my direction from the center of the bed, running on enthusiasm and a trust in my reflexes that I wished he didn’t have at the moment. I had to rush to keep him from falling off the edge of the bed. He latched on to me like he was part leech. “I hated you being gone.”
“It wasn’t long, bug,” I said, then planted a kiss on the top of his head. His dark blond hair was a cute, rumpled mess. My heart was about to burst out of my chest at this welcome.
Vail stretched out a hand toward Aspen and wriggled his fingers with excitement, and Aspen came over and kissed Vail while I watched and stroked his soft cheek. Vail must’ve shaved not too long ago, and I loved his smooth skin. He turned those full lips toward me, and I leaned down to have my turn attacking them. I nibbled on his bottom lip, and he sighed, tightening his arms around me until he shook.
“Hey, where’s my love?” Fallon asked, and his low sleepy voice tugged on something in my chest. I grinned and caught his eye where he was pouting alone on the bed.
Aspen tossed his hat and it went sailing. “You’re in my way,” he said, giving me a small grin.
“Sure.” I shifted to the side.
Aspen crawled onto the bed, and Fallon grinned as Aspen settled on top of him. Fallon wrapped one of his legs around Aspen’s thigh. I’d always loved watching other people fuck, and I still did, but there was something extra special about getting an eyeful of Aspen and Fallon touching.
I’d kissed them.
I’d been inside them.
Aspen had fucked me.
I love Aspen.And Fallon... wasn’t so bad.
