My heart squeezed. “I’d have to prove it.”
He shoved his glasses up his nose. “It wouldn’t be difficult. You have bank statements, you can prove the transfers to his account. If you have anyone who was keeping tabs on the investment accounts, they might have some input on the matter. There are laws about this shit.” He reared back and his nostrils flared. “I can understand why you might be... feeling things about this. Leave it to me. I’ll handle it.”
“River....” I blinked up at him, a tear escaping the corner of my eye. I wiped at it hastily.
“No. Don’t mope. Do not do it. I’m going to destroy your ex and drive him into bankruptcy if I have to, but you’re getting what he owes you. Do you understand me?”
I laughed sadly and nodded.
“And in the meantime, you’re going to move on. Fuck him and his small dick.” He began to pace the room, cursing under his breath. “I’m going to grab him by the balls and squeeze them until they pop.”
I couldn’t help but laugh louder. “Is that what Jayce is into?”
River froze, glancing at me with a grin. “No.He’snot into pain, it’s more of a me thing. Jayce is my Dom.”
My mind spun and I couldn’t breathe. This was my chance, I could ask him questions. Hesitating, I opened my mouth, then closed it again.
He frowned as he came back to his seat and slid into it. “What?”
“Do you enjoy being his sub?” I asked quietly. “Doing what Jayce orders?”
His mouth spread in a grin and he dragged his chair closer to the desk. He tapped my hand, fingertips warm and friendly. “Why? Are you interested in it? I know some good Doms.”
“No.” I groaned and dropped my face into my hands. “Don’t judge me.” Quite appropriate, considering my problem was Judge.
River waved his hand. “You know that isn’t my thing.”
That was a lie. River could beveryjudgmental when he wanted to be. He didn’t even need to say a word, his expression screamed everything in his head, and a lot more.
“I had sex with a student.”
River’s eyes widened and he opened his mouth, but I held up a hand to stop him.
“This was before I realized he was a student. And now that I know he’s one, I’m politely refusing him, but he’s insistent.”
He blinked at me with a suspicious narrowing of his eyes. “And? That wouldn’t trouble you. I’ve seen you reject students in the past when they tried to buy you drinks while we were out.” We stayed silent for a moment before he smirked. “You like him.”
I shrugged, my face growing hot. “He’s too young.”
“Age is a number.” River leaned back in his chair again, radiating smugness. “Is he a Dom?”
“I don’t know. He called me a sub, and he said he liked it when I followed his orders.”
“He’s a Dom.” River laughed. “And did you enjoy it?”
“Maybe? Chris and I tried roleplay and the BDSM thing once.”
He shook his head and tugged on his tie, straightening it. “That was a Chris problem. When we went out together, you enjoyed watching the other couples, I saw it.”
I did—it was hard to keep my eyes off the powerful Doms as they commanded their subs. My few trips to Triple X with River were a guilty pleasure. It wasn’t only about the physical presence of the Doms, but their emotional impact as well. Like Judge, they demanded obedience.
“You know my views on teacher-and-student relationships. It’s the same as the boss sleeping with the peons—it’s problematic.” River quirked his lips. “But you’re adults. Is there a clause in your contract about relationships?”
“No, but I told him it was against the law school’s policies.” I groaned and ran a hand through my hair. “He’s too young.”
River shrugged and stood, towering over me and my desk. “If you say so, but if you do want to try out the BDSM scene, give me a call. I’ll get you into Triple X again. Or if you do go with lover boy, still give me a call. I’ll make arrangements with Vic, the club owner. Be safe, if he’s as young as you say he is, don’t let him talk you into dangerous shit because you want to get fucked.” He winked. “And send me all the info you can about the financial bullshit with Chris.”
With a groan, I nodded nervously. That was River, blunt as ever, and I was feeling steamrolled. We said our goodbyes, and he patted his jacket with one last bright smile. When he was gone I fell back against my chair again.
