Page 35 of Staking His Claim

I waved to the food. “Breakfast is served.”

“Oh, really?” Vane smirked and stepped in closer. I raised my chin when he laid a kiss on my lips. It felt weird to kiss a man the next morning after sex, but I didn’t hate it. “What do we have?”

“Cereal,” I said bluntly, rattling the cereal in the box with a shake. “You didn’t have many choices.”

He laughed. “I don’t usually eat here. I get something on the way to city hall or send out Jean-Paul while I’m at work.”

“Really?” I shook my head. “That’s not healthy.”

His laughter grew louder and he pointed at me. “I’ve seen you eating when you arrive at work. Don’t pretend otherwise.” He patted me on the ass, and I didn’t miss the way his gaze zeroed in on my hips. His fascination with them should have been awkward, but I’d begun to revel in the way he stared at me. No one else had ever seemed so turned on by my body shape.

I shivered and fell into the seat at the table, ignoring the excitement that made my belly hot. We didn’t have time for another round of sex. “Just eat, Daddy.”

He grinned and took the chair across from mine. We mostly discussed work again, but I didn’t know what else to talk to him about. It was strange, but the interaction almost felt like a comfortable dance we were both participating in.

“I really want to get the belly from home if we’re going to do this here,” I finally said, after I’d taken the bowls to the sink to wash them.

I felt his heat behind me, and then he pressed himself to my back, kissing my bare shoulder. Eyes slipping closed, I inhaled a deep, calming breath as he slid his hands over my hips and closer to my cock, which lay nestled in my borrowed pants.

“You like it,” he said as a comment, rather than a question. I couldn’t deny it, though.

I shrugged. “It’s great sex. You get turned on more with it. You’re harder.”

He chuckled and kissed up my neck. My toes curled, and I turned in his arms after I finished washing the last spoon. We stared at each other, and his mouth twisted into a strangely pleasant smile I’d never seen on his face, but I liked it.

“I can order one for here. It won’t take long to arrive.”

I licked my lips and leaned forward. He met me halfway and we kissed with a gentleness that should have made me run for the exit. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he grabbed my ass, kneading the flesh through the thin material.

I didn’t know how long we stayed there, but by the time we’d broken away from each other and I checked my phone, I was cursing. “We’re late.”

“It’s fine,” Vane said when I nearly tripped over my feet to get to the bathroom. After a few rounds of sex last night, he’d done what he could to freshen up my suit, so I at least had clothes to wear; I just needed to iron them first.

“It’snotfine.” I threw a glare over my shoulder. “I can’t be late. I’m not the boss, and Jean-Paul will know.”

Shoving open the bathroom door, I took a moment to appreciate the design. The gray stone walls and silver tiles matched the theme of the rest of the apartment, and while it was simple, it had an expensive feel to it. There was a pristine white bathtub against one wall, and a porcelain toilet against another, which also had the shower connected on the other side. I stepped around that wall to see the gold ceiling fixture where the water cascaded out. All the buttons and knobs in the bathroom were gold and contrasted beautifully against the gray. Beside the bathtub was a slim floor-to-ceiling window that gave me a beautiful view of the city.

I whistled in astonishment. Last night I’d just used the smaller bathroom connected to his bedroom, and while nice, it wasn’tthis. His apartment wasdefinitelya lot nicer than mine.

“Do you need help turning on the shower?” Vane asked.

I jumped, not realizing he was right behind me, and shot him a glance over my shoulder. “I’m not useless.”

“No, but it’d give me a reason to touch you.” He crowded me against the closest wall and laid his hands on my hips, squeezing them gently.

I leaned my chin back and smirked at him. “I don’t have time right now. My boss is a hardass, and I need to get to work.”

He huffed out a quiet laugh and captured my lips in another forceful, but brief, kiss before he sighed and pulled away. “I’ll order that belly. It’ll be here by tomorrow afternoon, and then I can get you into it and fuck you.”

A tremble swept through me and I let out a harsh breath as he leaned in closer, his lips caressing mine in a slow and tempting movement that had my concerns about being late flying out the window. There was something about Vane Elwood that made me feel warm on the inside, and that was fucking terrifying. Not only was this purely a sex deal, but I’d never been with a man this long and still thoroughly enjoyed what we were doing.

“Let’s shower,” he whispered, and I couldn’t bring myself to say no.

By the timeI got to work, I was rushing, nearly bumping into people as I ran toward the elevators. I didn’t miss Kalinski and his sneer, but I had no plans to deal with him today. When I got to the fifth floor, I knew Jean-Paul was pissed by the tic in his jaw. He shoved himself up from his seat and stormed around the desk.

“You’re late.”

I winced and sent him an apologetic smile. “I know, I’m sorry. It won’t happen again, I swear.”
