Of my mate.

Once the post-orgasm daze wore off, I hugged Mylo from behind. He’d stumbled forward to brace himself against the shower wall—probably from coming too hard, if I hazarded a guess.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

He was still catching his breath, but he nodded. I squeezed him gently, half to keep him supported and half because he was so fucking cute that I couldn’t help myself.

“Mm...” I closed my eyes contentedly and nuzzled his shoulder like a cat. “I love you.”

My eyes snapped open. Did I just say that?

Yeah, I did. And I meant it.

Mylo stared at me, eyes soft and glistening. “Aurum...”

“Sorry, that came out of nowhere,” I said, flustered at myself.

“I love you, too.”

My heart skipped a beat. Or twelve.

Mylo’s voice was so full of conviction, it took my breath away. To hear that from him... it meant everything to me. It was a blessing I didn’t even realize I needed.

I drew him into a warm embrace. I’d never craved romantic love the way Saffron did, but now that I experienced it, I finallyunderstood what he wanted so desperately. I buried my face in Mylo’s neck, inhaling his sweet scent, wanting it more than air.

Mylo suddenly pulled apart with a gasp. “Oh!”

Shit, did I bite him by accident?

“What?” I asked, worried.

“The time! We’re going to miss our date!”

I rolled my eyes, scoffing. “Doesn’tthiscount as a date?” But then I remembered the dark glint in Jade’s eyes every single time he warned us to be on time. “Actually, you’re right. Let’s jet.”

As we rushed out of the shower and scrambled to shove our clothes back on, Mylo bent down to put his shoes on—which gave me a great view of his ass.

Then he paused. “Uh, Aurum?”

“What’s up?”

He held a round container up in the air. I squinted at it, then felt a shock of recognition.

“Holy Drake, you actually found it,” I said.

Mylo handed it to me. “Is that... your hair dye?”

“Yeah. It rolled under the counter, huh? Typical. I guess I didn’t checkthathard when it got lost.”

Mylo glanced at my wet hair with a smile. “The dye’s fine, too, but I like the natural color of your hair.”

I smiled back. “Y’know what? I do, too.”

“Your brothers needed it to tell you and Saffron apart, didn’t they?” Mylo asked.

Of course, mymate never needed a visual distinction. He always knew.

“Yeah, I think you’re right,” I confirmed. “But now that you’re in the picture, I don’t think they’ll need that anymore.”
