The next few moments were a daze for both of us. We were sweaty, exhausted and satisfied. Once Cloud softened, he pulled out of me and I watched in a mix of arousal and embarrassment as his leftover cum seeped out of me and down the couch. I glanced beside me and saw that Cloud's talons had utterly destroyed the seat, leaving fluff everywhere.

"It's safe to say we destroyed this couch," I remarked.

Cloud laughed, wiping the sweat off his brow. "Sorry to whoever owns it. But I'm not sorry for what we just did."

I nuzzled against his chest. "Me neither."

He pulled me into a warm embrace. Upon touching the heat of his body, I noticed my temperature had significantly lowered. I wasn't burning up with arousal like I was before. The thought filled me with tentative excitement. My heats were never this short.

Did that mean I was already pregnant?

When I openedmy eyes and found myself wrapped in Meeko's soft warmth, I knew I wanted to wake up like this every day for the rest of my life.

We hadn't bothered to untangle ourselves after our tryst. We were both so comfortable that there was no point. I sighed happily and laid my head against Meeko's.

He roused. "Good morning. Or afternoon. I don't know what time it is and I don't care."

I chuckled. He'd remarked that some people might find his attitude off-putting, but I loved it. I loved everything about him.

"So," Meeko said, rolling his neck to gaze up at me. "Now what?"

"That's up to you," I said, "but if we're still on a mission to retrieve your sword, I have an idea."

Meeko's eyes lit up. "What is it?"

"Before Animus attacked me, I was thinking about all the ways he's affected my family. Not all of it was bad."

Meeko scoffed. "Sure."

"It's true. I don't know what his problem is but he's done a lot of good for my family."

"On top of all the harm?" Meeko asked, raising a brow.

"Yes."

He crossed his arms. "So what’s your idea?"

"I want to talk to my cousin Quinn and his mate Farley. Out of everybody, they know Mistral the best. He even provided Farley a basket of feathers when he was due to nest, since he's a finch shifter and he laid an egg instead of giving birth."

"Wow, okay. That was so much information you just gave me at once."

I laughed. "Sorry."

Meeko rubbed his temple. "Are you trying to tell me Mistral is a good person, too?"

"Not necessarily. But I do think there's more going on than meets the eye. I don't think any of the spirits are simply good or evil. They're complicated, just like us."

Making a face, Meeko rolled his eyes. "Sure. So what does this have to do with my sword?"

"Quinn and Farley know where Mistral lives. They've been to his home before. It's a permanent place, not like this cabin."

I could tell by the way Meeko's eyes flickered he was intrigued by this. "Okay. That's a good start."

He paused, his expression softening. "Does this mean I'm going to finally meet your legendary harmonious pack?"
