Sage blinked and nodded slowly, absorbing this information. "Okay... I think I get it."
A little slower than the kids, but at least he got it,I thought, pleased.
His oldest brother Dax scoffed, shooting me a dry smile. "Is that seriously all you wanted to say? I thought somebody died."
"Someone died?" Lupa asked.
"No, no, everyone's fine," I said quickly. "But yeah. I was really worried about telling you all, in case..." I trailed off, not wanting to think of the consequences anymore. They'd been harassing me enough lately.
I let out an "oof" sound as somebody slammed into me.
It was Len giving me a hug.
Dammit, here come the waterworks...
I patted him on the back. Since my arms were busy, I was unable to wipe away the tears trickling down my eyes. "Aw, c'mon, there's no need for that..."
Len smiled as he pulled away. "Thanks."
"For what?" I asked, surprised.
"For trusting us enough to tell us."
His alpha mate Hugo nodded. "It was brave of you, Red."
Murmurs of agreement went up among the rest of them. I seriously felt like I could burst out into tears at any second. Stupid hormones. Stupid supportive pack.
A sudden loud gasp from Sage drew everyone's attention.
"Wait a second," he said, as if on the cusp of some dramatic discovery. "If you're sometimes an omega, and you just returned from a vacation with Orpheus..."
I grinned. He caught on quicker than I expected. Beside me, Orpheus let out a chuckle and shrugged as if to sayguilty as charged.
"Wait," Remington said, his expression caught between shock and confusion. "Is he implying..."
The realization hit everyone, like multiple light bulbs clicking on at once.
"Holy crap, Red, you're pregnant?" Sage blurted out.
I scratched the back of my head. "Er. Probably?"
He threw himself at me like a baby possum, hugging me tightly. "That's so cool! I can't believe it!"
Len and Morgan, the two older omegas, took the news a bit more soberly, though they shared Sage's enthusiasm. They all congratulated me, along with the rest of the alphas.
I was blown away. Nobody said anything negative. Honestly, I didn't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. This was beyond anything I could've imagined.
I rubbed away my tears. "Thanks, everyone. Not to be sappy or anything, but this was seriously the best gift I could've asked for."
Remington snorted in amusement. "Come on, Red. You know this is the sappiest pack in the world. It's unavoidable."
"You love us for it," Sage teased.
Remington gave him a playful shove. "Unfortunately, I do."
"If you're pregnant, does this mean you're going to be staying with us?" Hugo asked me. There was a hint of uncertainty in his voice, like he was worried I might leave.
"I am. I can't leave my furry little charges, can I?" I said, winking at the kids. "And my fated mate is staying, too."
