Ashe cried out with joy and slapped his hands against Sage’s face. The omega laughed along with him.

I let out a massive sigh of relief. “You two are the best.”

“Don’t worry,” Len assured. “I recognize parents in need of a break when I see them.”

During our conversation, I noticed Red had crept closer. The curiosity in his gaze was impossible to miss. He looked like he wanted to ask a question but was suddenly too shy.

“Is there something you wanna say, Red?” I asked to break the ice.

“Oh. Er.” His tail swished back and forth. “Uh, not much, just… Wanted to know if I could help out with the kid…”

As Ashe stuck his fingers up Sage’s nose, the omega grinned and said, “What d’you look so flustered about, Red? If you wanna help, just say so. It’s not like we’re gonna bite your head off.”

“The more the merrier,” Len chimed in. “I don’t think any of us would say no tomorehelp babysitting.”

Red’s tail slowly wagged. “You’d teach me how to do it?” He faced us. “And you two are okay with it?”

I nodded while Dax gave him a thumbs-up. That was enough confirmation for him. Sage and Len excitedly dragged Red along so Ashe could shove his fingers up their noses in peace. When they left, the exhaustion fully kicked in. I flopped back against the ground with a sigh. Even though the morning sun’s rays were poking out from the horizon, my brain had decided unanimously that it was bedtime.

As my eyelids began to slip, Dax mumbled something I couldn’t hear. His eyes were already glued shut and his expression was peaceful.

“Huh?” I asked.

“Said… g’night… and I love you…”

I smiled and gave him a quick kiss. “Love you, too.”

Dax began to snore and it didn’t take long before I joined him.
