Dax let out a small growl and pulled me in against his chest.
“What’s up? Did you get jealous from Sage hugging me?” I teased.
He smirked. “Maybe a little. Mostly I got annoyed thinking about Red.”
“You know he can’t hurt me, right? A fox may be a predator, but they can never take down a full-grown buck.”
“I know.” His arms curled tighter. “I’m just protective of you.”
A warm, fuzzy sensation bloomed in my chest. Being taken care of was a wonderful feeling.
After a sweet moment of cuddling, Dax murmured, “I want to take you to the human doctor to find out if you’re pregnant. Would you be willing to go?”
My heart fluttered. “Are you that impatient?” I asked with a small laugh.
“Yes,” he grumbled, nuzzling my neck. “But if you don’t want to, we don’t have to.”
I cupped Dax’s face. His gorgeous eyes bored unblinkingly into mine like I was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen and he never wanted to look away. “I’ll go. I want to know, too.”
Excitement sparkled in Dax’s eyes. “Then it’s a date.”
