Kaden chuckled. “Have plans for the move yet?”

“No,” I said. Then, biting my lip, I added, “Hey, do you want me to start putting up ads for a new roommate? It’s never too early.”

“How many months along are you? Three?” Kaden said. “It’s alittleearly.”

“I don’t wanna leave you up the creek without a paddle.”

“I’m pretty sure half a year is enough of a paddle,” he teased. “But if you’re really that nervous, sure, why not?”

“There’s a lot of freaks out there,” I reminded him, thinking of Shane and Axel, and my friend Felix’s cruel ex Larry. “I don’t want one living with you.”

“I appreciate it,” Kaden said. “But to be honest, I’m probably a little less picky than you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I mumbled.

Kaden snorted. “You look at 99% of alphas like you’re getting ready to stab them.”

“And?”

He laughed. “I’m just more easygoing. They’re not all bad, you know. Hell, aren’t youdatingone?”

“And?” I repeated.

Kaden might have bonked me on the head with a throw pillow if there weren’t two cats in the way. “Anyway, mom, I actually have a plan to meet someone as a potential roommate this weekend.”

“Who?” I asked, sitting upright.

He raised a brow. “Are you gonna be all judgmental?”

“No. Maybe. Why, should I be? You’re making it sound like I should be.” I gasped. “Oh my god, it’s an alpha, isn’t it?”

Kaden grimaced at my reaction. “Yes…?”

I half-promised I wouldn’t be judgmental, but it was happening anyway. “Kaden, really? Is that gonna be safe?”

“That’s why I’m meeting him in person, in a public location,” Kaden promised.

I narrowed my eyes and hummed disapprovingly as I thought of Shane again. “People can put on acts in public and then turn around and behave differently.”

“I know,” Kaden said, trying to be gentle but I could tell he was exasperated. “Look, why don’t you come with me then? Maybe that will soothe your nerves.”

“That’s not a bad idea,” I said. I didn’t mention that I didn’t really have plans on the weekend except for having raunchy, hormonal sex with Rafael. Goddamn, this pregnancy was turning me into a fiend and I wasn’t even halfway through it yet.

We leftthe apartment to arrive early at the Omega Angel Café to meet Kaden’s potential roommate. It felt strange going to our work environment on a day off but we both agreed it was the best location to judge this alpha’s attitude and treatment of omegas. If he couldn’t behave himself here, then it was bye-bye roommate.

It was chilly out with the autumn breeze making us shiver. We walked past a group of alphas who glanced us up and down before one of them let out a wolf whistle.

“Damn, that pregnant omegaglows.”

The remark irritated me and I rolled my eyes, walking faster with Kaden. It seemed like every time I stepped outside, I was reminded of why I hated 99% of alphas. They all acted like pigs. Actually, no, that was a lie. The pigs were better.

To my annoyance, I realized the alpha who’d made that comment was trailing lazily behind us.

“How far along are you, baby?” he asked.

It took all my mental fortitude not to turn around and backhand the guy. I knew there were creeps who thought pregnant omegas were sexy, but the only person I wanted to hear that from was Rafael.
