“Set the shifters free,” I repeated the line from the verse.
“He’s right,” Eric said. “By turning Bastian into an omega, you lifted whatever curse was on us.”
I blushed harder. “You’re right. I guess I did.”
Suddenly, voices came from the crowd.
“Can you do it to me, too?”
“A-and me, as well!”
“I’d like to be an omega!”
I blinked in surprise as a small group of shifters--both gryphons and wolves--appeared before me, all begging to be changed into omegas, just like Bastian.
“Hey, c’mon people, can it wait? He just had a baby!” Ramsay complained.
The baby fussed in my arms. I soothed him gently.
“He’s right,” I said. “I think I need to rest for a while. But I don’t mind staying a few days here and changing whoever would like to be changed.”
Hope spread across everyone’s faces, and my heart warmed. I had no idea there were so many shifters whowantedto become omegas. How many people like Bastian were out there, wishing for the ability to carry a baby of their own?
And I was the chosen one. I knew I was able to give them that power.
It was the most amazing feeling in the world.
Well, almost.
Theactualmost amazing feeling in the world was glancing down at my beautiful baby’s face.
Chapter 23
Over the course of the next few days, we all rested at the gryphon’s keep. With Blaze’s disappearance, Peregrine gladly took over the royal duties as Queen of the gryphons, and everyone was happy to have her reign. She took us in as royal guests--trueguests of honor this time--and allowed us to stay as long as we wished to recuperate.
My mates doted on me as I rested. I’d never been so appreciative of the fact that I hadfourof them to help take care of the baby. I got in a lot of naps that way.
I woke from one with a yawn, rousing at the sound of multiple soft voices. Eric sat beside me with a smile, holding the sleeping baby in his arms. He looked tired, too. He’d been through a lot with the fight with Noro, plus the broken rib and subsequent fast healing I’d performed on him. Not to mention the entire journey up the mountain, andthe new trials of fatherhood.
“Hey,” he said gently. “How are you feeling?”
I rubbed my eyes and got up. Seeing my mate and baby’s faces instantly brightened my mood.
“I’m good,” I said. “I feel like the past few days have been a blur, though. What time is it?”
He chuckled. “It’s midday.”
I blinked, noticing the sun pouring through the windows. “Right. Um, why does it sound like there’s a ton of people outside the door all chatting at once?”
Eric quirked a brow. “Because there is.”
“Huh?”
The door opened, and three people just barely slipped inside--the rest of my mates.
“Holy crap, Matheson, you won’t believe this,” Ramsay said exasperatedly.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
