“I’m an omega?” he offered with a slow smile.
“Yes. You have to be. There’s no other explanation.”
I grabbed his hands as excitement bloomed through us both.
“Then that means--”
He finished my sentence. “That your magicworked.I don’t know how you did it, but you changed me into an omega!”
I stood there, awestruck. I couldn’t believe this. It had just been a test, just a crazy idea, but it really worked.
I wasn’t the only omega in the pride.
Hell, I wasn’t the only omega around the Lake of Four Directions anymore!
I laughed and threw my arms around Bastian, ignoring the fact that he was still burning up and sweaty.
“Wait a second,” I said. “This solves everything!”
“How so?” Torin asked.
I grinned at him. Maybe I hadn’t given the guy enough credit. After all, I did just bust into his room while he was having sex and bombarded him with a bunch of new information, but he took it all in stride. Maybe any other alpha gryphon would’ve swatted the head off my shoulders for doing such a thing.
“Blaze doesn't need to keep me captive any more! I’m not the only omega!” I said.
But when I said that, Torin frowned and he gripped Bastian harder. “But doesn’t that mean he’ll try to claim Bastian instead?” He growled. “I won’t let that happen.”
Excitement and relief bubbled up, making me laugh. “No, don’t you see? I was the one who changed Bastian into an omega!”
Torin looked like I clocked him over the head with a plank of wood. “Huh?”
“I used magic to do it.” I touched Bastian’s chest, then trailed down to where his belly was. Where hiswombnow lay. “And if I can do it to Bastian, that means I can do it to others, too. I can create more omegas!”
Torin nodded slowly, though I got the feeling he didn’t fully understand what I was talking about. “Uh. Okay. But that still means Blaze won’t get his hands on Bastian, right?” As he spoke, he held Bastian a little tighter, and I didn’t miss the smile on the other omega’s face. Bastian’s heat had apparently brought them together in more ways than one.
These two are a pretty cute couple, actually,I thought.
I could barely contain my excitement. If I wasn’t the only omega anymore, that meant I was no longerspecial--which meant Blaze would have no more reason to keep me hostage here.
And that means he has to release Noro, too.
“I have to go find Blaze,” I said, turning for the door. “Come on.”
“Er,” Bastian mumbled. “To be honest, Matheson, we were in the middle of…” He paused, fidgeting with his fingers. “Trying for a baby.”
“Oh.” My eyes widened and I blushed.
For some reason I’d just assumed the two of them had been having sex for pleasure’s sake. I hadn’t thought that maybe Bastian would take this opportunity to get what he always wanted--a baby of his own. But it made sense to me and I nodded.
“Okay. Sorry for interrupting again.” I added to Neil, “Get over here, you horny dog.”
With a bit of mind control Neil followed, shooting one last glance at the omega in heat he couldn’t have before Torin snarled at him again, a protective and resounding sound of an alpha defending his mate.
And it just made me miss my mates--all four of them--that much more.
I’m going to end this. Now that I know how, all of this is going to stop, and I’m going to spend the rest of my life with my mates in peace.
But as Neil and I sneakily reached the main hall and found it empty and silent, I immediately knew something was wrong. There was a commotion coming from outside on the landing.
