Soon the two wolves padded back towards the fire. The light bouncing off their fur made Ramsay’s pelt look even brighter, and turned Colton’s white fur a fiery orange.

“Come and sit down,” Eric said. “Noro has something to say.”

They both shifted back to human form and took a seat on either side of me. Their warmth was comforting and felt like home.

The gryphon’s eyes flashed as he opened them. “Based on what you’ve told me about the four of you being mates, I have an idea about what the last verse of the prophecy is supposed to mean.”

“Tell us,” I urged him.

The fire crackled as we all went silent, listening impatiently for Noro to continue, but he seemed strangely hesitant to speak up.

“Well?” Eric pressed.

As we waited for Noro to speak, Colton began murmuring under his breath. “Seeds grown as one are the key…”

Noro’s eyes bored into mine. A flicker of understanding sparked in my mind.

“Oh,” I said softly. “Wait. You don’t mean…”

Ramsay blinked, looking back and forth between us in confusion. “What? What’s it mean?”

“Ah,” Eric said as the realization hit him, letting his arms fall to his sides.

“Can someone explain it to the folks present who might be a bit slow?” Ramsay asked irritably.

Eric’s voice was dry. “It’s not about flowers, Ramsay.”

“Then what is--oh.” A blush exploded on Ramsay’s cheeks. He turned incredulously to Noro. “Wait, seriously? Are you saying what I think you are?”

Noro nodded slowly. The next words that came out of his mouth made it feel like the earth disappeared from underneath me.

“There is one last verse to solve, and what I’ve gathered is this: as Matheson’s three mates, you all must impregnate him. Together.”
