Chapter 9

Ramsay brought his hand over his eyes to shield them from the sun. “Huh.”

He didn’t sound as panicked as I felt.

“Who is it?” I cried.

Ramsay chuckled and began striding for the shoreline again, apparently unbothered. “Don’t worry. It’s not a creep. Well, I guess he sort of is.”

I frowned and narrowed my eyes at the figure, then realized with a wave of relief that it was Colton.

“Oh my god,” I said.

I caught up with Ramsay, who was in the middle of kicking off his clothes.

I watched with my jaw dropped as he nonchalantly stripped until he was completely naked right in the middle of the beach. My eyes raked over him, taking in his tanned muscles and plump ass. He was completely unashamed of his form, revealing it for everybody to see.

Including Colton, who still stood half-submerged in the lake a few feet away.

Ramsay dove into the water, then broke the surface with a shake of his head. He called for me.

“C’mon, Matheson!”

Colton smiled and waved at me, too. He was still too far away for us to have a conversation, so I sighed and stripped down to my underwear. Unlike Ramsay, I didn’t have the balls to go skinny dipping. I neatly set my clothes aside next to his, then waded into the lake. The cool water felt refreshing on my hot skin and I sighed in relief.

“What are you doing here?” I asked Colton.

His platinum blond hair was plastered to his face and neck, looking a few shades darker since it was waterlogged.

“I wanted to see how you two were doing,” Colton replied simply.

“Just peachy,” Ramsay said. “Right, Matheson?”

“Yeah.” I smiled. “But, Colton… Did youswimall the way here?”

“Sure.”

I gazed into North Pack territory, way in the distance. I couldn’t even begin to imagine swimming from here to there. Hell, I doubted I could even swim to the center island like he always did for Moon Meetings.

“That’s crazy!” I said.

Colton wrung the water out of his hair. “Not really. I’m just a good swimmer.”

“Were you afraid I was keeping Matheson locked up in my secret dungeon or something?” Ramsay teased, elbowing Colton.

Colton raised his eyebrows. “You have a secret dungeon?”

“Er, no. It’s a joke.”

“Does it have chains and whips?”

Ramsay splashed him with water. “Okay, now you’re just screwing with me.”

“Maybe a little.” He ran a hand through his hair, slicking it back. With his hair out of his face, his ice blue eyes were even more piercing. “But I can’t really tell youwhy.I don’t understand it myself.” His brows knitted together. “It was like a compulsion. An urge I couldn’t avoid.”

“To go for an Olympic swim?” Ramsay said.

“No.” Colton’s eyes bore into mine now, locking on. “To see Matheson.”
