“How can you be so sure it's love?” I asked.

It was supposed to come across as teasing, but Felix had no patience for my thinly veiled joke.

“I’m sure,” he said quietly, “because it’s a feeling I never once experienced with my ex.”

Once again, he managed to take my breath away. I was supposed to be a big, strong alpha--a protector--but this small omega was tearing down my walls.

“Felix,” I murmured. “If you choose to be my mate, I swear I won’t ever treat you the way he did. I won’t let you down.”

He pressed his lips against mine and spoke softly. “I know you won’t.”

“I want to have a family with you.”

The words came tumbling out of me, unashamed and raw, as if Felix’s presence was pulling them out of my core.

His voice grew tight with affection and hope. “Me too, Elijah. Whatever it takes. I’m not going to let anything stop us from getting what we want. What we deserve.”

With a smile, I noticed that this time, he didn’t have anything negative to add about his body.

“I want you to move in with me,” I said.

Felix hesitated, and my heart sank a little. But then his lips touched mine again.

“I will. It’s a big step, but . . .” He exhaled. “It’s one I need to take. I want to move forward.”

“Let’s take it together.” I threaded my fingers through his soft hair. “I’m proud of you, Felix.”

This time, his emotions didn’t overwhelm him. He didn’t cry or need a moment to collect himself. He just kissed me again.
