“Absolutely not,” I said. “Only the ones I really like.”

He made that small surprised noise in the back of his throat again, the one he made whenever I said something flirtatious or teasing. I didn’t think I would get tired of hearing it.

“But seriously,” I added. “No omega’s ever stayed the night. At least, not since I lost my vision, so River wouldn’t have been here anyway.”

His thoughts were unreadable in the moment of ensuing silence. Maybe if I was sighted I’d see a mix of emotions on his face.

“Really?” he said eventually.

“Yup.”

“Do they leave early?”

I knew the question Felix was really asking. Are they booty calls who are outta here before sunrise?

“No. They don’t exist at all. Not to get too personal, but I haven’t had an omega in my bed for about five years now. Not since I lost my vision.” I shrugged.

“Hm,” Felix said thoughtfully. “I guess that explains why you were so, ah, Pent up.”

I laughed so hard that River jumped up in surprise.

“Fuck,” I said, wiping the tears from my eyes. “Yeah, I guess you could say that. By the way, you smell like my body wash, so I’m guessing you took a shower to clean all the cum off?”

“Yes, I had to!” Felix cried, sounding mortified at the fact that I’d repeated it out loud. “There was so much of it…”

“You’re cute, Felix.”

I reached out to ruffle his hair, which was still damp. Then my fingers travelled down to his hot, flushed cheeks. He was blushing hard.

“And so easy to tease.”

“It’s too early in the morning for this.” Embarrassed, he waved my hand away. “Oh, shoot.”

“What’s up?”

“I have a shift later in the afternoon. Even though the tip you gave me yesterday was definitely enough to cover a whole day’s pay.”

I grinned and pulled him closer to me by the waist until our hips were touching. “Then maybe you should stay and I’ll give you another one.”

He laughed. “I would, except I don’t want to get fired. I need this job.”

“Why?” I teased. “You can stay here with me.”

But when he spoke, his tone was serious now and told me I needed to downplay the joking.

“Ah, that’s kind of you, but maybe that’s a bit soon,” Felix replied, sounding like he had a lot on his mind.

“I know.” I brushed his hair. “I was only kidding. Sorry if I came on too strong.”

“It’s all right.” He paused, then murmured, “I really like you, Elijah.”

My heart skipped a beat. Even though I was already holding Felix, I wanted him closer, to meld him into me so we were one.

What is going on?I thought.I just met him, and yet I can’t stop thinking this mushy crap about him . . .

“I like you too, Felix,” I replied. “But I won’t keep you away from work. Just promise me this won’t be the last time we meet.”

“No, definitely not,” Felix said. “Let me think about my schedule. Um, are you free this weekend?”

I grinned. “For you? I’m always free.”

“Saturday evening? I’d invite you to my place, but I’m currently sleeping on a friend’s couch, so I’m afraid there wouldn’t be much privacy. And, er, I don’t want to get stains on it . . .”

I smiled at his comment, but was worried about what he’d just told me. Why was he sleeping on a couch? Did he not have a place of his own? Maybe that was why he seemed so concerned about losing his job earlier.

“Saturday evening sounds great. You know where to find me.”

After a proper breakfast, Felix got dressed and headed out, but we shared one last kiss before he left. The kiss lingered on my lips, pulsing with warmth, and all I could think about wasFelix. My brain felt cottony and dazed in a wonderful way, like I was a stupid teenager with my first crush all over again.

I had no fucking idea how I was going to last until Saturday.
