“You know,” I said. “Omega? Pregnant? Baby?”
It took Skylar a second. Then the realization hit. He screamed and threw himself at me. “Oh my god! Oh my god, Jake! Are you kidding me right now?”
“No!” I said with a laugh. “I’m not kidding. You can go check the test if you want.”
“You guys!” Skylar murmured, glancing between both Griffin and I with watery eyes. “I can’t believe… You guys are seriously gonna start a family?”
Griffin glanced at me, like I was still the deciding factor. I felt a pang of sympathy for him. Was he still thinking about Heath’s betrayal even though I’d told him I would never do that?
“Yes, we are,” I stated firmly. “We’re gonna have a baby.” I grasped Griffin’s hand in mine. “Together.”
He still seemed too shaken to speak, so he smiled and nodded.
Skylar suddenly started laughing.
“What?” I asked.
He grinned. “Nothing. I’m just thinking that if you filmed this and showed it to yourself in the past, you would think the footage was fake.”
“Well, duh, of course I would,” I said. “I hadn’t met Griffin and fallen in love with him yet.”
Skylar gasped and touched his face. “Oh my god. Shut up. Both of you stop being cute.”
I leaned against Griffin, who put his arms around me, and I smirked. “Can’t help it.”
Skylar groaned in exasperation. “You and the cat combined with your babies and kittens are gonna give me baby fever. I hate you.” He paused and suddenly looked worried. “Wait, you’re not gonna leave me right away, are you?”
“Leave you?” I said, flabbergasted.
“I mean, aren’t you going to move in with Griffin?” Skylar asked, his brows furrowed sadly. “Since you two are mates now, and having a baby, and all…”
“Oh, Sky.” I hugged my best friend. “I’m not leaving rightnow. We have nine entire months before the baby’s born. We can still talk about stuff.”
“And it’s not like Griffin’s place is even that far away.” I looked him in the eyes. “Okay?”
He nodded. “Just don’t forget about me when the baby comes.” Then with a mischievous grin, he added, “Maybe you should name it after me so you don’t forget.”
“Oh, shut up.”
