I crossed my arms and leaned into the leather seat. “I’m liking Rafael more and more. Maybe if you ever run off again, I can gethimto be my baby’s daddy instead.”

Griffin bristled. “First of all, I’m never leaving again. Second, if Rafael thinks he can parentmychild better than I can, he has another thing coming.”

I laughed. “Fine.”

Griffin’s expression softened and he asked seriously, “So, you know for sure? If you’re actually pregnant or not?”

“No. It’s still too early to tell,” I replied, then lowered my gaze to the table. “But… If I’m not, then…”

Griffin watched me expectantly. “Then what?”

I sighed dramatically. “God, you’re dense. Then Iwantto try until I actually do get pregnant.”

I thought Griffin’s eyes were going to pop out of his head. “You - what?”

“You’re an idiot, you know that?” I said. “How many times do I have to say it for you to believe me?”

“Jake, this is a whole new side of you,” he said with an incredulous laugh. “What happened to no romance, no long-term relationships? And especially no babies?”

“You happened,” I said.

That shocked Griffin into silence. “Oh, Jake…”

“I’m serious,” I growled. “I can’t explain it, okay? After my ex, I didn’t want to fall in love again. But you somehow magically wrangled me into having stupid feelings for you.”

Griffin’s cheeks turned a shade darker. “You’re in love with me?”

Heat flushed to my face as well and I groaned. “Yes. Okay? You want me to say it? I love you.”

Griffin didn’t reply. Instead, he leaned forward and cupped my face in his hands before delving into a long, passionate kiss. I melted into it, forgetting everything around us. In that moment, there was only Griffin and I, and our unlimited potential.

When he broke away, I was breathless and my cheeks were hot. Not to mention an inappropriate stir in my cock that I didn’t need in the middle of a café.

“Jake,” Griffin said. “I love you.”

An electric tingle ran down my spine.

“And I’m sorry for making you feel that I didn’t,” he added. “It won’t happen again.”

For a minute I was too emotional to speak, so I simply nodded.

“By the way,” I murmured. “Are we still on for Valentine’s Day?”

Griffin smiled and kissed my lips again. “Do you even have to ask?”
