Jake
My apartment seemed like a dump in comparison to the hotel room after I got back home. In all fairness, it was a decent place. I couldn’t complain about the location and rent, especially since I shared it with my best friend and roommate, Skylar. On top of that, since Skylar had lost his job a few months ago, he tended to get bored and clean the place often, which was nice of him.
I sighed and kicked my shoes off before trudging to the bathroom. I needed a nice, hot shower. It would have been nice to take one in the fancy hotel bathroom - the shower was probably three times the size of the one in my apartment - but I made it a rule never to stay longer than necessary.
My mind drifted momentarily to Griffin, and the sight of his sleeping form in bed, before I wrenched my thoughts away from it.
No,I scolded myself.None of that.
It was over and done with. Gone. Forever. No more Griffin in my life. I’d do well to even forget the guy’s name.
Still, I couldn’t deny the sex had been amazing. I pulled the shower curtain back and let the hot steam fill the air as warm water poured over my skin. I sighed into the swirling mist. The water rivulets trickled over my body and down to my ass, which felt pleasantly sore after the encounter with Griffin.
I scowled. I was thinking about him again.
Grabbing my body wash and a loofah, I scoured every inch of myself, hoping that it would wipe away both the sticky bodily fluidsandthe memory.
When I was raw and clean and smelling more of floral fruity body wash than alpha, I stepped out of the shower and into a clean white towel. Despite my little nap after getting railed, I was still tired and wanted to pass out in my own bed. But when I left the bathroom, someone was standing in the middle of the dark living room.
“Jesus!” I cried.
The person yelped, and instantly I knew it was Skylar.
“Sorry!”
“You scared the shit out of me,” I muttered. “What are you doing, just standing there?”
“Well, I was sleeping but I woke up when I heard you come home,” he said. “You’re usually not so late, so I wanted to see if you were okay.”
I sighed and sat on the couch with him. “Yeah, I am. Sorry.”
A small smirk appeared on his lips. “So, were you… Y’know.”
“Fucking?” I asked, raising a brow and grinning. “Yes, Sky, I was fucking an alpha. And it was awesome.”
He blushed. “Okay, I don’t need to know all the sexy details.”
I laughed. “Fine, then I’ll spare you.”
Skylar leaned back and examined me. “Hm…”
I grew self-conscious under his gaze. “What?”
“Nothing. You just seem…brighterthan usual.”
“The hell does that mean? Am I glowing like a night-light?”
Skylar smiled. “I just mean that you seem happier than you normally do after you get home from… fornicating with strangers.”
“Ew,” I said. I picked up a pillow and playfully whacked him with it. “Don’t call it that ever again.”
“That’s what it is!” Skylar complained with a laugh. “So, did you like this guy?”
I rolled my eyes, not wanting to discuss this. “Yeah, he was all right. Shouldn’t you be going back to bed?”
“Don’t change the subject, Jake,” he countered. “I know you, and I can tell when you’re in a good mood.”
My cheeks turned hot. “Well, I won’t be if you keep bothering me about it.”
