Jake hesitated. From behind Kaden stepped out another omega wearing the same angel uniform. His tag read Skylar. Unlike the other employees, he looked a bit shy. He was blushing, and kept glancing to the floor and biting his lip. But when he saw Jake his eyes lit up and he smiled brightly.
“Jake!” Skylar cried, throwing himself at his friend.
At first, Kaden - the senior employee - seemed conflicted to whether he should break it up or not, but must have paused since Jake was an omega, and because the two of them clearly seem to know each other. He must have decided to let the no-touching rule slide, because he didn't say anything.
“Oh my god, I'm having the best time, Jake,” Skylar said. “I was really nervous to come in, but everyone has been so nice to me! It’s totally unlike any other job I’ve ever had!”
Jake seemed pleasantly surprised by his friends reaction. “Well, that's great! No one's been weird to you or anything?”
“No, not at all! The staff remind me of all the rules that the patrons have to follow, and told me that if anyone is weird to me at all, they’ll come over and kick them out right away.”
“That’s great,” Jake said. For the first time since I’d met him, there appeared to be a genuine smile on his face. Not the sultry smirk, or snarky grin I’d seen numerous times - but a real smile.
“Is this your friend?” Skylar asked, looking at me now.
“No,” I said, expecting Jake to join in the same way he did before. But this time, he didn’t reply right away.
“We’re acquaintances, is what Griffin means to say,” Jake replied. “I didn’t expect to run into him here. Isn’t that right, Griffin?”
As the rest of them looked to me, I nodded. I didn’t know what Jake was up to, but since he wasn’t throwing me to the wolves, so to speak, I was fine with going along with it.
Kaden turned to Skylar. “So, shall we get started on that training?
Skylar nodded. “Yes, let's.” He turned to Jake and I. “So were you two wanting to use the photo booth? Kayden was about to teach me how to use it, so if you were, I could try to set it up for you.”
I was about to decline, but Jake cut me off and said, “You know what? I think wewilltry it out.”
