Skylar peered through the big glass window at the front of the café.

“See,” he said, “it's a lot bigger than it looks inside.” He paused, glancing back at the line with a slight frown. “But it seems like it’ll be packed anyway.”

I sighed. “You go on an ahead. I might as well get in line. Geez, who knew this place was so popular?”

Skylar bit his lip and shuffled to the beginning of the line. He held his backpack with his work uniform in it close to his chest and said, “Sorry, excuse me.”

A few people looked annoyed that he was trying to get in before they did. I narrowed my eyes at them. Of course they were alphas. Thankfully, another omega employee came out and ushered Skylar inside. He gave me one last hopeful glance before he disappeared behind the doors. I noticed that the alphas who had scowled at Skylar weren’t scowling anymore now that they realized he was an employee.

Probably want to stay on his good side,I thought.Typical.

After Skylar left, I accepted that I would be here for a while and pulled out my phone to browse the internet. I noticed that everyone else in the line seem too interested in the café be looking at their phones, or doinganythingbesides peering into the windows. And, obviously, most of them were alphas. Why wasn't I surprised? It's not like they had anything better to do than be waited on by a bunch of omegas.

Since I was the only omega in line, it made me uncomfortably aware of how much bigger and taller everyone else was compared to me. I squared my posture to try and puff up like an intimidating snake, but I wasn't sure how successful I was at it. Eventually, I gave up and just stared at my phone screen.

The sooner the wait was over the better. All I wanted to do was see inside and make sure Skylar was okay, then I could get the hell out of here and never look back.

Finally, doors opened and the line started to move. The employees at the doors began letting waves of people inside.

For god’s sake, this is a damn café, not a celebrity meeting!

The whole situation made me want to scoff. Maybe it was a mistake coming on a Saturday, but this was Skylar's first day and I didn't want to miss it. At least one good thing came out of it - I figured since it was a busy day, it would be a more genuine opportunity for me to see therealexperience of what Skylar would go through .

“All right, come on in,” the omega employee at the door said with a smile as he waved us through. He met my eyes as I passed by, looking a bit surprised to see another omega here, but didn't say anything to single me out, which I appreciated.

At the front desk, a different employee wearing the same angelic outfit greeted us. He gave us a bright smile and said, “Welcome to the Omega Angel Café! We are so glad to have you here. Please give us a moment while we help you all get seated. While you wait, please become acquainted with the set of rules we follow here at the café.”

He gestured to poster on the left of the desk which displayed a list of rules about interacting with the employees. I raised my eyebrows in surprise, because I truthfully didn't expect there to be any sort of boundaries there.

Even more surprising was the fact that the alphas actually took the time to read the poster. They huddled around and even made space for me so that I could read as well.

The first rule - which was bolded and written in a red font, clearly making it the most important - was that touching the employees without their permission was strictly prohibited, and anyone found doing so would be automatically banned from the café. That filled me with relief. I knew Skylar could be a bit shy, so knowing he wouldn't have to deal with unwanted advances was encouraging.

The other rules were similar, like a strict no photography rule. There was an addendum to this one, which stated that custom photographs could be purchased from a booth within the café, and all proceeds from the booth would be donated to the local omega charity. It added that anyone found taking illicit photos or distributing them would also be permanently banned from the café.

I was genuinely surprised at the lengths the café was taking to protect its employees. But just because there were rules in place didn't mean that everybody would follow them, so I still felt good in my decision to see what happened to Skylar today, especially with so many alphas here.

I was seated promptly by smiling omega wearing the angel outfit. “Hi, sir! Right this way, please.”

He seemed very at ease, and I wondered if it was because I was also an omega or if he just treated everybody this way.

“Welcome to our café,” he said as he handed me a menu. “Is this your first time here?”

“Yeah,” I replied.

“Wow, welcome! I hope you have an amazing experience, and let me know if there’s anything I can do to enhance it!”

I blinked in surprise.Well, at least the customer service here is on another level.

The omega continued. “Please take a look at our menu and let me know if you have any questions! Your wish is our command.”

I raised a coy eyebrow. “Do you really have to say that?”

He tilted his head as if he didn't understand the question and continued smiling. “Of course,” he said, “it's our job to make every customer feel special.”

Not knowing what to say, I shrugged and said, “Okay. Let me take a look at this for a minute.

“Sure,” he chirped.
