It was a long way to walk, so we decided to fly instead. When we were ready to leave, I shifted into my dragon form and stretched my wings. The familiar power and energy flowed through my veins.
It wasn’t until after I shifted that I noticed everyone in the village watching in awe and excitement. Raja, who stood next to me, smiled smugly. He patted my silvery thigh.
“It really doesn’t get old watching you turn into a huge dragon,” he said with a grin.
He climbed into my arms. It was easier to carry him as a human, so he didn’t bother shifting. Then I prepared myself for flight, tightening my muscles before launching myself into the air. A few of the younger kids below us waved goodbye. Also watching us leave was Eka, and Kali, who was waving as enthusiastically as the children.
I smelled the sea before I saw it. The scent of warm saltwater was refreshing. Along the white sandy coast were little cabins in a line, evenly spaced out for privacy. A couple people were milling about outside, setting up colorful umbrellas and towels on the beach.
“It almost looks like a tourist area,” I commented.
Raja chuckled. “That’s because it is one. My mom made the reservations. She thought it would be safe at a human tourist spot. I’m not complaining, though. It looks nice.”
We landed a safe distance away before shifting to our human forms to blend in. As we approached the beach, Raja linked my arm with his and winked.
“Okay, here’s my story. You’re my sexy, exotic alpha husband,” he said. “Got that?”
I laughed. “Sure. I’ll be anything you want me to be.”
“Good. That’s what I like to hear.”
After picking up our keys from the main office, we checked out our cabin. It was small but clean, with white side-panelling and a polished wooden floor. A single king sized bed took up most of the bedroom, but since this appeared to be a popular honeymoon spot, I suspected nobody complained about that particular feature.
Raja tossed his backpack with his belongings on a wicker chair and threw himself into the bed with a great sigh. “Nowthisis living.”
“You look good in that bed,” I said without thinking.
Raja quirked his brow and smirked. “Do I, now?”
“Of course. You always look good.”
He crossed his legs. “If you’re trying to butter me up to get in my pants again, it’s working.”
I chuckled. “It’s a bit early in the day for that, isn’t it?”
He shrugged, then slipped off the bed to open the lace curtains. The view was spectacular; the bright blue sparkling sea and white sand. Each cabin had a private beach area, so none of the other guests were close to us.
“Would you like to see the water?” I asked.
“Sure do. Let me put on my swimsuit. Unless you want to go skinny dipping.”
I wondered if all the innuendo was just playful teasing, or if he actually wanted to have sex again. The lustful side of me hoped it was the latter. The night we shared was amazing, even though it was emotionally meaningless - to Raja, at least. I thought I felt a spark between us, but Raja had no intention of starting a real relationship, so I kept those thoughts hidden away. All I could do was enjoy this experience in the moment.
We brought an umbrella to shade us and a towel to lay down on. The sun was hot and pleasant on my skin, and the sand beneath my feet was warm. After setting up our things, Raja was immediately attracted to the water. He wore a short and tight pair of swimwear that left nothing to the imagination. My eyes were drawn to his ass as he sauntered to the water’s edge.
“It’s nice,” he called, beckoning me over. “Come with me.”
I joined him as we put our feet in the water. The sea was shallow and warm here, smelling pleasantly of warm salt, and there were no rocks or kelp to ruin the picturesque scene.
Raja waded a few feet deeper until the water reached his waist, then he crouched down with a content sigh. “This is the best.”
His eyes fluttered shut as he basked in the sun. Despite the presence of the bright blue sky and crystal clear waves, he was still the most beautiful thing I could see.
“Did you know leopards love to swim?” Raja said as he turned to float on his back now.
“I didn’t know that,” I replied. “I thought cats hated water, but you clearly don’t.”
“Small cats maybe,” he said, smiling. “Less cool cats, too. What about dragons?”
