“I’m not talking about your wound. I’m talking aboutallof this,” he said, gesturing widely. “The situationwe’rein.”

“We will figure something out,” Ipromised.

He quirked a brow sarcastically. “Really?”

“Yes,” I affirmed. “I have a couple of ideas, at least. But we should gather our strength before putting anything intoaction.”

He let out a noncommittal noise, then went quiet. A moment later he spoke again without lookingatme.

“I have an idea of how we can pass the time,” hemumbled.

There was no way he was suggesting what I thought he was suggesting. “Excuseme?”

“What?”

I stared at him for a long time, trying to figure out if he was joking or not. Eventually deciding he was dead serious, I said slowly, “Now is not the time for that sort ofthing.”

“Why not?” he asked, with more fervor than I expected. “It’s not like we have anything else to do. It’s like you just said, all we can do is wait around. We might as well make itinteresting.”

His behavior was completely baffling. I knew Hector was always a bit of a strange omega in many ways, but I didn’t expect this evenfromhim.

“We can’t,” I said. “It would beinappropriate.”

He narrowed his eyes in annoyance, then muttered, “Fine. But I’m not sitting here waiting around and doing nothing. I’ll go entertainmyself.”

Before I could question him, Hector left thecabin.
