“Me too,” Vincent agreed with a nod. “You know, I’m serious aboutadoption.”
A light glittered in his eyes. I knew he had an idea brewing already. He looked like he was about to say something else so I kept quiet andwaited.
“If…” hetrailedoff.
“If…?” I said, urginghimon.
He glanced up almost sheepishly at me. “If you want, we could go to the adoption centretomorrow.”
I couldn’t help but gasp. I knew Vincent was serious, but notthatserious. “Tomorrow?” Iechoed.
He nodded. “I’m financially capable of taking care of us and a child, plus your income on top of that.” His face broke out into a wide grin. “We could even get a new place - a nice house with a yard by the woods. My friend Markus mentioned there’s a place for sale in hisneighbourhood.”
My heart raced so fast I thought it would explode out of my chest. Everything was happening so quickly, but not in a bad way - in fact, this was the happiest I’d ever felt. Excitement coursed through my veins. This was happening. It wasreallyhappening.
“Yes,” I said. I was so ecstatic I almost grabbed his arms. “Yes toeverything.”
A wide grin spread across Vincent’s face. “Okay. That settles it, then. Tomorrow morning we’re going to the adoptioncentre.”
I all but squealed and threw myself at him. I felt like a giddy schoolgirl, but my emotions were genuine. Vincent held me against his chest and stroked my hair andmyback.
“I’m guessing you don’t feel so sick anymore,” hecommented.
“Nope,” I said. “I think the ginger tea and having a sexy alpha matehelped.”
Helaughed.
As the night wound down and we crawled into bed together, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Vincent’s warmth next to me under the covers came off in waves. I craved his contact; I shuffled closer until we were as close as physicallypossible.
“I love you,” I muttered, burying my face in his chest. I resisted the urge to run my hands all over his pecs but then realized I didn’t have to - we were mates now. So I did. Vincentchuckled.
“I love you, too,” he said. “I’m excited for tomorrowmorning.”
“Me too,” I agreed. “It’s like… we’re moving so fast, but it doesn’t feelbad,youknow?”
“Yeah, exactly. It feelsnatural.”
I grinned hard. Never in my life did I think I’d have an alpha to call my own, especially not one this sweet and kind andunbelievablyhot.
We settled down, both starting todriftoff.
“Goodnight, baby,” Vincent murmured. “Loveyou.”
I nuzzled his chest, feeling warm and comfortable and safe. “Loveyou, too.”

The next morningI awoke like a kid on Christmas. I practically leapt out of bed, but when I did, I discovered Vincent was no longerthere.
Panichitme.
“Vincent?” Icalled.
“I’m here, John,” he answered from outside the bedroom. He was already dressed - in the clothes he wore before we had sex yesterday. I felt guilty that I had clean clothes and he had to re-wear his, but when I walked up to him for an embrace I noticed he didn’t smell badatall.
As I took a deep drag of his scent, he chuckled and peeled me off. “I want to get rowdy again as much as you do, but we have somewhere to be this morning, remember?”
I sighed. “I know. Although I can’t promise I won’t be on you the instant wegetback.”
