She pointedly avoided Kyle’s eyes and instead stared straight at her son. “Please tell me you are not having this baby out of wedlock.”

Beside him, Stark felt Kyle begin to tremble. He squeezed his mate’s hand, but knew that nothing he could do would ease his anxiety until his parents left.

“If you’re asking if we’re married yet, the answer is no,” Stark stated.

Miranda looked like she was going to faint.

“Okay,” she said. “Well. I suppose we’ll be going now.”

Neither of his parents bothered saying a goodbye to Kyle as Stark ushered them out of the door. When they were finally gone, he let the door slam heavily into place.

“Fuck!” Stark snapped.

He wanted to punch a hole in the wall in frustration but held himself steady. Kyle didn’t need to be more stressed out by his outburst of anger than he already was. Stark turned and went to his mate’s side.

“Kyle,” Stark began, but Kyle was already curled up on the couch with his head buried in his knees. “Oh, honey…”

Stark sat next to Kyle and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, whispering comforts in his ear as the omega let it all out.
