Killian

Killian watched Scout sleep.

He had done so every morning and night since the omega arrived at the manor. Killian wasn’t a heavy sleeper — it was a common trait among alphas, whose brains and bodies were prepared for a threat at any moment.

Killian didn’t mind. There was something so pure and serene about Scout’s face when he slept. His cheeks were pink and his lips parted slightly as he breathed in and out. Killian had to resist the urge to lean down and kiss him.

Finally, he couldn’t resist any longer.

Killian braced himself on his elbow as he lowered his lips to Scout’s, gently pressing their mouths together. Scout’s lips were incredibly soft, and it lit a fire in Killian. He wanted to keep kissing him, he wanted to kiss him forever. They had never kissed deeply with tongue yet - Killian had the feeling that Scout wanted to take it slow. That was fine with him.

Finally Scout’s lashes fluttered and he made a muffled noise as he roused awake.

“Good morning, dear,” Killian said.

“G’morning,” Scout mumbled. He yawned and stretched, exposing the vulnerable tendons in his neck. “What time is it?”

“Time to get up,” Killian said. “We’ve got something planned for today.”

“Hm?” Scout sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “Another tour? Wait, you said that only happened once… Um. Royal bullshit?”

Killian chuckled. “No. We’re going on a date.”

Scout’s cheeks turned red. Killian found it adorable how he was still so shy — but then again, they’d never even kissed with tongue, let alone had sex yet.

“Where are we going?” Scout asked. “A cafe or something?”

Killian stood and strode to the window, pulling back the lace curtains. Wind and sunshine streamed in, along with a fresh floral scent. Scout got up to join him by the window, when his jaw dropped. Below the window, just outside the prince’s room, were huge, mature trees — and they were all in bloom.

Killian smiled at him. “We’re going to the orchard.”

* * *

For all its grandeur, the orchard was not private. Anyone was welcome inside, provided they passed a security check at the entrance, but most of its visitors were high-class pack members looking for a nice way to spend their day.

Killian and Scout dressed casually. The manor’s employees had brought most of Scout’s things from his apartment, including his clothes, but Scout felt embarrassed to wear his tattered old jeans and shirts now. He wore a new shirt given to him by Killian, while the prince wore a sleek black cardigan and black pants.

“So, do you usually wear all black?” Scout asked as they linked arms and made their way down to the orchard.

Killian smiled playfully. “Why, you don’t like it?”

“No, it’s not that, I think it’s—” Scout stopped, flustered.

“You think it’swhat?” Killian pressed.

“Sexy,” Scout muttered.

“Really?” Killian grinned. “Maybe I should wear more of it, then.”

Scout blushed. “I just thought maybe it was part of the royal dress code or something, but no one else wears black but you.”

“Oh, that.” Killian was smiling again, but it had an edge this time. “My father thinks it’s unprofessional. Un-royalty-like.”

“So… you do it to annoy him?”

“Basically.”

Scout laughed.
