“I love you, too,” I say back, kissing him softly.

“How much longer till the nest is done?” he asks and I smile.

“Once it’s cleaned up and we have a meal plan in place, I think I’m ready,” I admit. Even though I want to bond him right here and now, I just want one thing in my life to be perfect.

Bonding should be the most profound moment of my life, and the guys seem to respect that.

“Jonah’s going to get security for the house. We’ll keep you safe,” he promises.

“I know you will.”

He doesn’t say anything else, he just holds me and I bask in his warmth and the rhythm of his heartbeat.

I was taking making my nest perfect very seriously, but as a tingle zips up my spine, I know I need to either accept that it’s as close to perfect as it’s going to get, or hurry up and finish. Because something tells me my heat isn’t that far off.

I refuse to be unbonded for another heat ever again.

I can do this. Maybe once we bond, I’ll feel truly safe and I won’t have to constantly remind myself that I’m not in danger.

Chapter 32

Shiloh

I’m irritated.

There’s drilling all throughout the house while I’m tucking away all the properly washed and then re-scented blankets away in the nest. It’s nearly perfect. Jonah’s going to install the curtain rod and my blackout curtains tonight, and then I think it’s time.

Holy shit, I’m going to bond with Alphas.

That is, if the incessant drilling doesn’t stop.

Having had enough, I step out to the hallway and see the man I met at the fundraiser placing a security camera in the hall.

He’s handsome, with light brown skin, greenish colored eyes and silky soft curls on the top of his head.

He smiles at me and holds up the drill.

“We should be done soon,” he says politely, like he knows he’s getting on my last nerve.

“Thanks for setting this up.”

“Anything for the Sørensens. Jonah’s like a brother to me. My team will monitor any activity on the cameras and we’ll have a guard stationed in front of the home for the foreseeable future. Jonah will probably introduce you to the team later today.”

I scrunch my nose. “Doesn’t that seem like a bit much? It’s not like I’m famous.”

Elliot laughs and shakes his head. “Doesn’t mean you’re any less important. You’re the most important thing to Jonah. Can you blame him?” he asks.

My heart swells when I think about the fact that I have three men who care so much about me and my safety.

“Well, thanks again,” I say, but he looks like he has more to add.

“Have you spoken to Claire since the fundraiser?” he asks, and I nod my head.

We don’t speak per se, but we do send each other memes and videos every day. Honestly, Claire is becoming the closest friend I’ve had in a long time, even though we barely actually talk.

“Just a little,” I admit, and he nods. “Do you want me to have her reach out to you?”

“Oh, no, was just checking in,” he says and I note that for later.
