She stands straight and grins. “Damn right I am.”

“No one deserves it more than you, Love. I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me,” I tell her, wrapping her up and squeezing the life out of her.

“Stop, I can’t cry,” Love says.

Mors comes behind me, wrapping an arm around my collarbone and kissing the side of my head.

“Who spiked the punch?” she asks, looking accusatory at Love, who wipes away happy tears.

“Must have been Gloom, you know how he gets.”

“Uh, huh.”

“Oh, would you look at that,” Love says, looking at her watchless wrist as she walks away, not saying another word. She floats away towards Death who grabs her waist and holds her to his height.

There’s no more jealousy, no more thoughts of not being good enough, all that’s left inside of me is hope and happiness.

“Happy anniversary, sweet cupid,” Mors whispers in my ear.

“Happy anniversary, baby.”

She tightens her hold on me before turning me around.

“I have something for you,” she says.

“I won’t turn down presents.”

She hands me the green box with golden ribbon, and I tug at the strings to open it up. I can’t help but cackle when I see the two bracelets nestled inside.

They’re of course of the best quality, one in rose gold and the other made of tungsten carbide. They’re magnetic, and when they click together, it makes a complete four-leaf clover.

“You’re a bit of a smart ass, you know?”

She takes out the rose gold one and puts it on my wrist, and I help her with hers. We click the shamrock together, and I smile.

“You love every bit of it.”

“I do, thank you. I have a gift for you too, but it’s for after the party.”

I wink at her and she grabs a fist full of my hair to bring me in for a kiss, only pulling slightly away so she can whisper against my lips.

“I’m so lucky to get to love you,” she says, and I smile.

I grab a fist full of her ass and squeeze, loving that I get to be openly free and in love with the woman of my dreams. I kiss her neck, and she shivers.

“I’m lucky to get to love you, too,” I whisper back, knowing that luck has nothing to do with it.
