“What the hell was in that arrow?” Death asks.

My problems are fading away, I feel one simple desire for Eros and that’s it. Nothing else matters, not how much I wanted Mors and to be a great cupid. That’s silly.

“Eros is life,” I say sweetly.

“It’s like a love potion on crack. It’s illegal for a reason. It’s going to take a while to wear off. But the biggest thing is we need to keep her far away from Eros. If he’s around, it might never wear off.”

“Oh, that’s okay.” I sigh. “We should get cupcakes; Eros loves cupcakes.”

“Your favorite dessert is love in a jar,” Love says, and I shake my head.

“Now it’s cupcakes.”

“Should I get Mors?” Death asks.

A deep-seated feeling rips through my chest when I hear her name.

“She didn’t want me to stay the night again.”

Death groans and drags his hands down his face. “Mors takes the job harder than anyone else. I heard one of her souls decided not to pass and stay as a ghost. I’m sure she was in a mood when she got home. It had nothing to do with you, Juliet.”

I wave him off.

“What do you know, Mr. Reaper dude? Just because you’re in a relationship with the best cupid of all time doesn’t make you an expert. I’m supposed to be with Eros anyway. Even if Mors is lovely, beautiful, sweet, and… no.” I point a finger at Death and Love. “You two are trying to trick me.”

Love rubs her temples. “The arrow is making her delusional.”

“You’re delusional!” I point at her.

Love looks like she’s about to pull her hair out and Death looks like a statue.

“Just take me back to Eros.”

“I’m literally never going to let you live this down when you’re back to normal,” Love scolds. “Maybe we should take her to Purgatory, where Eros can’t go.”

“No! No Purgatory. Take me home, to my love nest with the stupendous Eros by my side.”

“Is there any possible way you can rip out his soul when we find him?” Love asks Death.

My vision starts to go wonky, and my stomach hurts.

“I… I don’t feel…”

I turn over to my side and vomit on the bottom of Death’s robes.

“Awesome,” he grumbles.

My eyes roll to the back of my head, and my stomach clenches.

“The magic in the arrow he used is making her sick. It’s time to take her to the top dog.”

Something slips through my mouth, but it makes no sense. I’m not sure how much time passes, but I feel the warm touch of a portal and wonder if they are finally taking me to Eros.

“It’s being taken care of,” a deep voice I faintly recognize says.

“Uh huh. Because clearly sending him to another planet didn’t work. He did something illegal, against all rules of cupidity. So excuse me, head cupid, but please tell me what the fuck is going to be done to get Eros under control?”

Oh great, awesome. The head cupid is involved now. Just what I needed, Cupio
