There’s a cupid who’s tied up and being fed one cock after another. There’s another splayed on a table, each orifice and hand dutifully keeping busy. Then there’s the guy taking a fis?—.
“There you are,” a feminine voice says, not one I’m familiar with.
When I look over at the cupid, I realize she’s the one that was following Eros around like a poor, lost puppy. She’s pretty, but doesn’t hold a candle to Love.
“Sorry, do I know you?”
“I’m Juliet,” she says, holding out her hand, which I do not take. Not only because I know she has malicious intentions, but my hand is covered in Love’s essence, and that’s not something I particularly care to share. It’s mine. I’m the one who wrung it out of her perfect body, I’m not sharing.
She pulls her hand away and laughs. “So, you’re like the first reaper that’s ever come to the Valentine’s Day Ball. I was wondering if you would like to dance,” she says boldly.
There’s suddenly a loud clunk against me as Love slams her heavy award down on the table. She looks pissed and I want to fall to my knees all over again.
“I’ve tried to be nice to you, Juliet. I’ve taken pity on you, knowing what you have to deal with when it comes to Eros.” Love holds up her thumb and pointer finger, squeezing them tight together and narrowing her eyes. I have to hold back a laugh that she’s diminishing his manhood. “But if you think I’m going to let you come over here and try to flirt with my man, you’ve got another thing coming.”
My chest puffs out against my own will. Her man.I like that.
Juliet begins to sob, and Love’s tone completely changes as she approaches the younger cupid.
“I just wanted him to notice me, you know? He was so upset when you brought him,” Juliet says, waving a hand in my direction. “This whole friggin’ night all he’s been able to talkabout is you and your reaper. I thought… I thought that maybe he would get jealous and give me attention if I spoke to him.”
“Oh, stupid cupid.” Love sighs and hugs the other woman. “Eros is a narcissist. He’s mad because I embarrassed him. I bruised his ego. You could do so much better than him. I know he seems larger-than-life at first, but I promise he’s not.”
“He made me feel like I was special.”
Love sighs and looks at me, and I wonder if she’s thinking about my words from earlier, about when I told her she was special.
“I can tell you this with one-hundred-percent honesty. You’ll find someone better,” Love says to Juliet.
“You think so?”
“I know so. In fact, take a look around. Join any of the groups here and you’ll have a better experience than with him. Don’t let him ruin your Love New Year,” Love says.
Juliet sniffles and hugs Love. It’s no wonder this cupid has me under her spell, she’s simply just a wonderful person. One you don’t deserve,a dark voice in the back of my head seethes.
“I’m really sorry for acting like that and coming over here to flirt with you,” she says to me and to Love.
Love shrugs. “That pig-headed douche will make you do desperate things, I get it.”
Juliet smiles and walks away, and Love turns to me, grabbing her award.
“I thought you were going to hit her with it,” I joke and she smirks.
“It wasn’t so long ago that I was in her shoes. She’ll figure it out. But violence is never truly off the table,” she says, wiggling her eyebrows and clutching her award like a weapon. “Your place or mine?” she asks seductively.
“Yours,” I reply and she grabs me by my robes, teleporting us away.
There’s a brief moment when I feel nervous about showing Death my apartment. But it fades away as soon as we’re at the edge of my bed.
He isn’t focusing on the amount of Valentine’s themed stuffed animals or raising a brow at my deep-red, silk sheets. No, the reaper only has his eyes on one thing—me.
His gaze doesn’t leave mine as he walks me back towards the bed. He’s a man with one singular focus, and for the love of Hallmark, it’s nice to be the center of someone’s attention.
My attraction to the man in front of me is beyond just how hot he is. Like the stupid cupid I am, I’m falling fast.
He’s kind, loyal, supportive, and, well, he can eat pussy like no other. How would anyone expect me not to catch extraordinarily big feelings for this man? Part of me wants to ask what we are. Does he have hearts in his eyes too, or does he just want this one night?
Please don’t break my heart, Mr. Reaper.
