This is so completely fucked.

“Where are we going?” her soft voice asks.

I can’t even be mad at her as much as I want to be.

Cash answers for us, saying, “Learned about some illegal dog fighting.”

“You’ve got to be fuckin’ kiddin’ me. You thought it was alright to bring her to a fuckin’ blood sport, are you fuckin’ braindead?” Axel scolds.

I roll my eyes, and Cash glares at him in the rearview mirror.

“We’re going tonight because we know those pricks aren’t going to be there. We’re going to go in, get the dogs, and leave,” he informs us.

“What’s stopping them from just getting more dogs?” Lily questions.

“We’ll be handling that when you’re not around, sweetheart,” he tells her, giving her a smile in the mirror.

Great. Fuckin’ awesome. Not only is Axel walking around smelling like he spent all night under Lily’s skirt, but now Cash is giving her a pet name and soft smiles.

We’re all completely fucked.

“Plus, Lily will stay in the car with me,” Cash points out.

“So let me get this fuckin’ straight. You two assholes interrupted my night when this is only a two-man job?” Axel seethes.

I grin against my fist, kinda liking that I ruined his night. He might smell like her, but with that bit of information, I know it didn’t get too far.

Serves the prick right.

“Would have been better with three,” I chime in, and I feel the hard press of a knee in the back of my seat.

“What’s your fuckin’ problem, man?” Axel snaps at me.

I spin around to point at him in the backseat. “You. You’re my fuckin’ problem.”

He grins at me, and I watch with irritation as his hand lands right on Lily’s thigh, squeezing her flesh hard. A thick outpour of coconut and jasmine fills the car as her cheeks flush. A low growl involuntarily leaves my chest as I glare at him.

“Now I get it,” he says, a smile breaking out across his face before he leans over to kiss the side of Lily’s head.

“Go fuck yourself,” I sneer, and he laughs.

“Well, if you two didn’t interrupt my night, I’d be fuckin’ Lily, which sounds a hell of a lot more pleasant,” he boasts pridefully. Her cheeks redden further, and she squirms, pressing her thighs together.

Nope, fuck no.

I turn around to force myself to stop noticing all her small movements. I feel a little sickened with myself, with how much I’m noticing every time she shifts and the effect it’s having on me. I cannot be looking at my stepsister in that light.

Thankfully, we’re almost at our destination. Cash kills the headlights as we drive to the back lot. I know we’re in the right place when we see a line of abandoned dog cages.

“This is it,” Cash announces.

I get out of the SUV and Axel follows, leaving Cash and Lily in the car alone. My boots crunch against the gravel as I go to the trunk. We grab the bolt cutters and leashes, and each of us slides on a pair of leather gloves. I check my weapon before tucking it in the back of my pants, and Axel does the same.

“You’re lucky I love dogs or I’d kill you for ruinin’ my night, dickhead,” he grumbles as we walk over to the cages.

“You’re lucky Lily likes you, or I’d shoot you and shove youinone of these cages,” I joke. We both let out a soft bout of laughter as I cut through the first cage, which is empty.

“How many dogs are we lookin’ for?” Axel asks.
