He groans but digs it out of his back pocket. When he looks down at the name and his face falls, I know our precious stolen moment has come to an end. He gives me a look of apology before bringing the phone to his ear.

“What?” he barks out.

He holds up his slick-covered hand and my cheeks heat, he slides them into his mouth while the other person on the phone speaks. Even him using his tongue to clean his fingers isn’t enough for the mess I made of him.

I hop off the table and grab some paper towels, wetting a few to clean off his hands while he listens.

“You’ve gotta be fuckin’ kiddin’ me. No one else can help?” he barks over the phone.

He gives me a soft smile as I clean him up, even though he’s irritated with whomever he’s speaking to.

He looks at the ceiling with annoyance, saying, “I’ll be back in a half hour,” over the phone while nodding along to the rest of the conversation.

Once he hangs up, his hands quickly return to my thighs. I love how easily the affection between us has progressed. I’ve always wanted more with him, always admired him from afar or flirted when I got the chance. I thought that’s all we could have, small moments kept between us. But after tonight? I know we’re going to be so much more. Between the two of us, we’ll figure something out.

“Sorry. We have to go back,” he sighs.

“Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, it’s all good,” he dismisses, not giving me any more details. “I’m makin’ you mine, Lily Rose,” he vows, and I grin at the use of my middle name, nodding my head.

“I need more moments like this,” I plead, and he leans down to kiss me again.

“I’ll figure it out, baby,” he promises, and I have no other option but to believe him.

Axel issmart about parking near the side of the compound. His plan is to sneak me home before he makes his way to whoever he’s meeting at the body shop.

Riding the whole way home without panties was… interesting. I made sure my dress was tucked safely for the whole ride.

Axel holds my hand as we saunter through the night to get me home. I know as soon as his hand leaves mine I’m going to be devastated, so I hold on as tightly as possible while I can.

We’re rounding the space between my house and the body shop when I get yanked to the left by Axel, who is currently being accosted by my stepbrother, Tate.

“What the fuck is this?” Tate spits. He takes a moment, looking between the two of us when his nostrils flare, clearly smelling my scent all over Axel. I should be embarrassed that he’s smelling my scent, but all I’m truly worried about is him snitching on us. “You’ve got to be fuckin’ kiddin’ me. Is she why you said yes?” Tate demands.

My brows furrow, but I smartly keep my mouth firmly shut.

“Yes, and what does it fuckin’ matter to you?” Axel counters, releasing my hand and pushing Tate off of him.

“You got a fuckin’ death wish?” Tate asks him.

“It’s none of your goddamn business,” Axel responds.

Tate shoves Axel’s shoulder, pushing him against the wall, and I wrap my arms around myself, not wanting to get in the middle. I know how these guys work, and my stepping betweenthe two of them is only going to make things worse instead of better.

“I’m with you. That’s all that fuckin’ matters. Now, let me get Lily home.”

I look between the two of them in confusion, wondering if both of them want what’s best for me in their own way. While it’s irritating to constantly have people—men—always telling me what to do, it is comforting knowing so many people care about my well-being.

Tate looks back at me, and I can’t read his expression at all. I wonder if he still has the same mindset as the night he came home or if my words from a few days ago stuck with him.

“This what you want…whoyou want, Lily?” Tate asks me. His voice is demanding, letting me know he needs a straight answer.

I will not cry over him asking me what I want, I refuse.

“He’s who I want,” I confirm.

“You know you’re not enough for her?” Tate spits at Axel, which is rude and a dig he didn’t need to throw out there. But my confident Beta shocks me by shrugging his shoulders, the insult rolling off his back easily.
